The Dirty Hands” band was originally formed in 1990 when friends Andy Carrieri ( guitar ) and Cesare Ferioli ( drums ) joined forces after touring with their earlier band : Jack Daniel’s Lovers , whose debut LP “Stay Out of Jail “ (Lakota/Ricordi 1989) was produced by Steve Berlin, of Los Lobos.
With bassist Max “Jr Pitta” Pitardi joining the group , “The Dirty Hands” set off to explore the regional blues of Texas and Louisiana; sounds which heavily inspired Rock and Roll.
In 1991, The Dirty Hands worked with Californian harmonica player Andy J. Forest. The group toured widely in Italy and continued on to the U.S. where in 1992, where they gigged in well-known blues clubs in New Orleans, Austin, Dallas, Tucson, Flagstaff, Pasadena, Hollywood, Los Angeles, on a 90 day tour that took them from coast-to-coast.
Once back in Italy , they toured with New Orleans creole harp player J. Monque D., and kept busy producing original material. The band’s line-up was completed with the arrival of Milanese harp player Egidio “Juke” Ingala, who’d previously played with “ Omar and the Magic Roosters “.
The band’s debut CD “ Dirty Hands “ was completed in 1992, and received rave reviews locally and internationally in the blues and rock press, putting the band’s name in the headlines. The Dirty Hands put out their second recording in 1993 entitled “ XXX Hot Chili “ on the Swiss label Boots Records, marking an impressive step forward in an explosive combination of blues, swing and down and dirty rock and roll.
In 1994 took to the road again, playing the more noted blues clubs and festivals in Europe and the U.S.
Boots Records approached the group in 1995 to record their second CD :“ Four Cool Cats “, which was distributed by the prestigious Crosscat Records Company. The CD sold well all over the EU.
In 1997 The Dirty Hands had the good sense to make a change at the height of their career. After 800 concerts and 3 albums, after performing as one of the most revered Italian blues bands, they decided to call it quits. Jr. Pitta would move on to create Jr. Pitta and Junglebeat. Cesare Ferioli would become a soloist and DJ/ Producer known as Big Mojo. Andy Carrieri would go on to form a trio of the same name. Egidio Ingala continued on with the Egidio Juke Ingala Band.
