J.J. Jackson started his career in New York around 1957 as a songwriter and arranger for Jack Mcduff and Jimmy Witherspoon among others. In the mid 1960s Jackson started singing himself and his manager send Jackson over to the UK in 1966. He recorded a single that became a mammoth R&B hit with one of the most infectious dance smashes of the decade, "But It's Alright". The song was recorded in the UK, featuring some of Britain's top jazz musicians, and with it's classic stuttering guitar riff and sharp horn charts, sounded as authentic as any Stax single. Jackson never matched the success again, but he cut some Northern Soul singles and two albums with increased social consciousness in his songwriting and sophisticated horn and string arrangements.

Jackson first met the Prado Brothers in 1999 in the Sanja Jazz Bar in Sao Paulo. They were still teenagers but they already played excellent stuff. Jackson was impressed and they kept in contact. In 2005 Igor Prado invited J.J. Jackson to participate on their second album 'Blues and Swing'. Jackson handled the vocals on "Those Lonely Nights".

And now back to 2016. The unlikely pairing of the great and talented Prado Brothers brings a whole new sound to this classic soul singer. All songs are covers, but the Prado treatment with horns, makes this a scorching collection of hard blues and soul. A must!
