Harmonica ace Charlie Musselwhite falls between the more obvious generations of blues players, younger than its elder statesmen but considerably senior to young hot-shots like Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. How, then, can he find a fresh hook to his music without resorting to attention-grabbing gimmicks? Except for two songs featuring producer/guitarist Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, Charlie Musselwhite's 1997 album, Rough News, doesn't have any famous guests, but it stands out from the harmonica whiz's long and deep discography nonetheless.

Musselwhite has pared down his sound so radically that every instrument has become a rhythm instrument. When these lean, groove-based arrangements are applied to tunes as simple and catchy as "Both Sides of Fence," "I Sat & Cried" and "Natural Born Lover," the results jump at the listener with the bare-basics excitement of early rock & roll. Musselwhite displays his elegant command of the mouth harp on two instrumental standards, "Sleepwalk" and "Harlem Nocturne," but the highlights are the songs where the simplicity of the material and the masterfulness of the musicians bring the best out in each other. /Geoffrey Himes, Amazon

Suffice it to say, in all of music there was only one Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Texas music has always been a melting pot of many styles, genres, cultural and ethnic influences, but Gatemouth was a one-man cauldron of sonic intensity and originality unmatched by anyone before or since. If you asked him who his musical influences were, he would say, "I never wanted to sound like nobody. I just play the kind of stuff that got into my blood and I'm still the only person I know who plays it."

Still, born in Louisiana, raised in Texas and bouncing around the Texas circuit explains a lot. Whether playing one of his blistering blues guitar solos or teasing a country or Cajun melody out of his ever-present fiddle, Gatemouth's versatility reflected the musical palette of his home turf - a potpourri of blues, jazz, Cajun, r&b, Texas funk and honky-tonk. His father taught him to play piano and guitar, but he was also listening intently to T-Bone Walker, Count Basie, Woody Herman, and Texas Playboy steel guitarist Leon McAuliffe.

Gate borrowed heavily from the Big Band sound, and his music could swing with the best of them, as he demonstrates in this show recorded on February 6, 1996 (the last of his four appearances on Austin City Limits). Gatemouth Brown's live shows were always a musical roller coaster, seamlessly bouncing from song to song and instrument to instrument, with his irrepressible banter sometimes competing with the music. His was a highly personal approach, and he was a larger-than-life personality. Keeping with show biz tradition, he "rocked till he dropped", maintaining a busy touring schedule until just before he died in 2005 at 81.

This second treasure trove of country blues is a wonderful mixture of older, some known but mostly forgotten, gems that had been gathering dust, and five songs written by these two artists that fit right in with the earlier diamonds, making the whole disc a wonderful way to kick back and enjoy no matter where you are. This album owes a big part of its appeal to the stunning finger picked lines that Rishell seems to lay down so effortless as to appear common place, blended with the supportive and sensitive harp work of Raines. These two are not only sharing the rich traditions of these country blues, but they are ever widening the audience with their precision playing and empathetic treatment of the music. They bring this style of music to the forefront and make it a living and vital organism. The two have a wonderful chemistry that stems from the genuine love of this music, and the joy they so obviously share with each others playing. It is serious and yet at the same time joyous. It is the quiet joy of a couple that have been together so long, and shared so much, that they can just in a look communicate the whole world to their partner. On six of the cuts they have some other musicians playing with them, and rather than lose some of their intimacy due to the intrusion of others into the mix, they seem to gain. The other musicians have no trouble letting them go and do what they do, and they stay in the background and in a most supportive way fill out the sound, allowing Rishell and Raines to use their support to reach for a fuller sound. The joy and love of their music is the very solid foundation to this disc, and the stunning musical mastery of their instruments is the result of long hours of playing. Listen to Rishell's delivery of the vocal on "My Washerwoman's Gone." He has the intonation that is needed for this bawdy song, then pause long enough to listen to what he is playing on his guitar and how effortless it sounds. That is a sound they achieve by the consequence of both love and dedication to their craft. This is a gem on many levels. ~Bob Gottlieb

While it’s hard to put a finger on any one sound that defines “American music,” the compositions of Bill Toms are as close a template as any. The Pittsburgh native, along with his band Hard Rain, delivers a sound that takes the greatest of America’s most beloved genres and melds them into a poetic representation of the best the country has to offer.

With his ninth full-length studio release, Good For My Soul (street date October 27), Toms channels a foot-stomping, wall-shaking blend of soul, blues, gospel, and rock vibes, all brought together with his lyrical specialty -- stories of everyday men and women doing their best to stay ahead while still managing to keep a dream or two in their heads.

Soaring horns, gritty licks, toe-tapping rhythms, and Toms’ own rough-hewn vocals will draw listeners in, as well as well-deserved comparisons to the greats such as Dr. John, Little Feat, Springsteen, Joe Tex, The Blasters, Otis Redding, and Rufus Thomas.

“The idea of a horn section behind my songs has been something I’ve thought about for a while,” explains Toms. “Albert King, and all the Stax artists come to mind when I think of what true rhythm and blues can do. I wanted a piece of that; creating dynamics, and drama within the song; and fostering the deep emotion that a great horn section can give. The words also needed this place-- in order to be fully interpreted as the representation of ‘my America,’ and the people who make up my small part of this world.”

Good For My Soul was recorded in February 2017 by Oscar-winning composer Rick Witkowski, who also co-produced the set with Will Kimbrough (Rodney Crowell, Todd Snider). Both artists have collaborated with Toms frequently on parts of his earlier catalog.

Toms launched his musical career in 1987 as lead guitarist of Pittsburgh’s legendary band Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers, During that period, he opened for and played with such legendary names as The Band, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. While playing guitar, co-writing, and adding backup vocals for the Houserockers, Toms and the band recorded six studio albums and one live concert album. In 1995, The Houserockers released American Babylon, which was recorded and produced by Springsteen himself.

As a solo artist, Toms has opened for the likes of Buddy Guy, Levon Helm, Marshall Crenshaw, The Kennedys, Steve Forbert, and Ellis Paul. He’s plotting a string of regional east coast dates to support Good For My Soul, as well as a full European tour in 2018.

Hopkins' blues note on Beale Street says he was born in 1927. He says he once subtracted a few years to keep himself young, that he was actually born in 1921. The note calls him "Godfather of the Blues" -- a title he claims due to age and as a link to W.C. Handy, the "Father of the Blues."

Hopkins' mother ran a Tunica, Miss., "juke joint" when he was born. She called the club Big Baby's, a nickname she earned because her 200 pounds looked large on her 5-foot frame.

They lived in the club that drew sharecroppers because of Big Baby's cooking, moonshine, gambling and "real old-time 12-bar blues." Area sharecroppers earned less than a dollar a day harvesting cotton and corn. "They spent it all on Saturday night. There wasn't anything else to do," says Hopkins.

Some of the best bluesmen in the region, including Sonny Boy Williamson and Willie Love, played at Big Baby's. "I watched them and learned to play from that. I started playing piano when I was 6. I had to stand up to play. By the time I was 12, I was playing piano and singing in roadhouses on my own." ~Kelly Ludwig

Assembled to update the sound of the old Memphis jug bands of the 1920s and 1930s, the Last Chance Jug Band is led by David Evans, a scholar, field researcher, and director of the ethnomusicology department at the University of Memphis. This isn't an academic project in re-creating times past, though, but a real attempt to translate the sound of the old jug bands into a contemporary setting, which means, in a word, drums. So Shake That Thing rocks out with a wonderfully ragged and loose sound complete with jugs, washboards, and kazoos, all centered 'round Evans' slightly shaky (but very effective) high vocals. The end result is a Memphis street-corner party disc that is unbelievably fun. Highlights include "Last Chance Blues," the loopy "Who Pumped the Wind in My Doughnut," "Mississippi River Blues," and a solid cover of "Viola Lee Blues," here entitled "The Judge He Pleaded." ~Steve Leggett

Tim Gartland had me hooked within the first minute of the lead track on his latest album. The lyrics to the chorus are simply: “I’m a party of one… but I’m drinking for two.” That pretty much sets the tone for this rollicking 10-song LP of new originals.

“Satisfied” was recorded in Franklin, Tennessee, at The Rock House, produced by Kevin McKendree. The lineup is as follows: producer Kevin McKendree on keyboards (Delbert McClinton, Brian Setzer), Tom West on keyboards (Susan Tedeschi, Duke Robillard), Jack Bruno on drums (Tina Turner, Joe Cocker), Steve Mackey on bass (Delbert McClinton, Wallflowers), Robert Frahm on guitar (Blues Warriors), Tom Britt on guitar (Vince Gill, Jonell Mosser) and Memphis legend Wendy Moten on background vocals. Gartland sings lead vocals and plays his trademark blues harp.

Gartland moved to Chicago following college. After seeing Muddy Waters live, he decided to dive full force into blues. He studied with harp great Jerry Portnoy and was able to jam with Chicago legends such as Bo Diddley, Carey Bell, Big Jack Johnson and Pinetop Perkins. He now resides in Nashville.

Gartland’s harmonica playing has been compared to Charlie Musselwhite on a few occasions, and after hearing the first few hot licks, the comparison is not a reach. Gartland can rip. He could hang at any all-star blues jam in a smoky club, and apparently can drink for two in the back alley.

Back to the record. Gartland’s got a charm with his songwriting. He’s not trying to be too esoteric. He makes a point, and he makes it well. Gartland’s taking the blues, and he’s throwing strikes with it. There’s something to be said for that. Good grooves, solid guitar solos, catchy choruses, some humor in the lyrics, great harp playing, good production. Sign me up.

“Drinking For Two” is a classic, catchy barnburner, that you could hear any band playing in any blues club in America. Hell, maybe the band I’m in will start playing it. “Don’t Make More Trouble” has solid advice in its message that we can all relate to. “Can’t Paint A Prettier Picture” reminds me a lot of Chuck Berry’s “Carol” in a great way, and “Don’t Judge Me” has a killer harmonica and guitar duel. The songs are solid, there’s not a clunker in the bunch, and once it’s over, you can’t help but feel like you had a really good time.

They were, perhaps, the first interracial band on the scene, Annette having been born in Stockport of African-Canadian, English and Nigerian heritage. Victor went on to the influential Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation drawing the admiration of Jimi Hendrix, who dubbed Victor his favourite white voice . Robert Plant was also a teenage fan. Kyla sometimes performs with Victor and Annette to this day. Secondly, classic-in-waiting, 'Don't Let Me Fall' wields seriously radio-friendly soul-pop heft, as Kyla builds from a crooning start to an astonishing crescendo where she sings without the brakes on. It is a truly thrilling aural experience. Such a treasure shines all the brighter in being supported by a superb team Kyla's brother, Sam Brox of Dust Junkys fame produces empathetically with help from Kyla herself and her husband, co-writer and bassist Danny Blomeley it is indeed, a family affair. John Ellis (Honeyfeet, The Cinematic Orchestra, Lily Allen etc), plays keys with alchemical excellence; in-the-pocket drummer Mark Warburton is a master of economy; Paul Farr (Corinne Bailey Rae, Joss Stone, Tom Jones) is an enchantingly fluent guitarist; while the renowned Haggis Horns proclaimed 'the best horn section in the world' by Mark Ronson create a further dimension to these already finely crafted, appealing songs with their mellifluous and punchy arrangements.

Dana Gillespie first made her name as a teenage singer (and songwriter) in the 1960s, with a string of memorable singles and albums for Pye and Decca..In 1971, she teamed up with David Bowie's management company MainMan, joining Bowie at RCA Records. It would be two years before her next record - but it was worth the wait. Weren't Born A Man was a wonderful amalgam of pop, soul and some wonderful songwriting from Dana. The title track, for example, wouldn't have sounded out-of-place on Dusty In Memphis, while Dana's twist on Bowie's 'Andy Warhol' (the song had actually been written for her) was unique. Both these album highlights were issued as singles..Dana swiftly followed up with a second album for RCA, Ain't Gonna Play No Second Fiddle. The recordings were bluesier in places than on its predecessor but still equally impressive. The LP was promoted by a single, 'Really Love The Man', but thereafter Dana parted ways with MainMan before building an enviable reputation as a blues singer of some renown. Issued with the full support and involvement of the artist and MainMan, What Memories We Make is the first proper retrospective of Dana's recordings for MainMan/RCA. Many album tracks make their debut on CD and have been joined by a raft of rarities and previously unissued material..All five tracks from the legendary BOWPROMO album from 1971 are included: this was an album circulated by MainMan featuring rough mixes by David Bowie on one side (made prior to him signing with RCA) and Dana Gillespie on the other. Also present is the semi-mythical, previously unheard original demo of 'Andy Warhol' featuring backing vocals from Bowie, and the rare Libido single (issued on Mooncrest in 1973), plus sessions from late 1974 for what would have been Dana's third album for RCA/MainMan. .Housed in a plush Digipak with lengthy sleeve-notes by David Wells within a 24-page booklet also boasting an embarrassment of photographic riches, What Memories We Make is a long overdue tribute to a rare British star.

Bluescure started as a blues band, with the emphasis on the melodic side of the blues: polyphonic singing, ballads, swing. The repertoire has gradually expanded to a mix of soul, jazz and rock 'n' roll.
The secret weapon of the band is the singing together. The velvet voice of vocalist Djoly Janssen and the rough throat of saxophonist Perry van den Berg contrast and color beautifully together. In addition, the band has two master guitarists BJ Baartmans and Frits Luppes. Ted Basten on drums and Ton Jansen on bass complete the band.
Djoly learned the trade at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht. The five "old hands" in the trade played and played in many other groups including the Bengels, Billies Bounce, Nightbreak, the Boerenleenband, Balkanbrij, the Hello Goodbye Band and the Revolvers.
BJ Baartmans performs (and made 12 CDs) as a solo artist. He played together and did session work for countless artists including Iain Matthews, Ricky Koole, André Manuel, JW Roy, Frédérique Spight, Mike Roelofs, Rob Geboers.

Drummer/label head Pat Ford reunited with Charlie Musselwhite and brought along brother Robben Ford on guitar, producing this return to form. Musselwhite is up to the task in all departments - singing, playing (great tone), and especially songwriting (the title tune and "Seemed Like the Whole World Was Crying," inspired by Muddy Waters' death) - but it had been a while since Robben Ford had played low-down blues (touring with Joni Mitchell, putting in countless hours in L.A. studios), and it may have been wiser to give the guitar chair to Tim Kaihatsu, who by this time had seniority in terms of hours on the bandstand with Musselwhite, above any other Musselwhite alumnus.

Pianist Clay Cotton is in fine form. This time out, the deviations (to be expected by now) include Don & Dewey's "Stretching Out," an impressive chromatic harp rendering of "Exodus," and Musselwhite's solo guitar outing, "Baby-O." Harmonica Shah’s roots are planted firmly in three pivotal blues regions. The West Coast, where he was born in Oakland, CA. on March 31, 1946. The Texas badlands, where he spent time in his youth with his grandfather, guitarist/harpist Sam Dawson (whom Alan Lomax recorded) and his equally beloved and despised adopted hometown of the Motor City, deep in the industrial heartland. His beautician mother, set him up as a JET magazine salesman in the late 1950’s, which opened up both the doors of Oakland’s bars and clubs and the enterpising young Shah’s ears to the music of Lowell Fulson, Jimmy McCracklin, Juke Boy Bonner and Big Mama Thornton, all of whom he found behind those doors.

Shah credits his love of hard blues to his grandfather who farmed his own land with a mule named Stonewall, as he recalled to Scott Barretta in Living Blues “Well see I picked it up from him, he’d be out in the fields singin’ all that (Sings in a slow moan) “Tell me how long, whoa, tell me how long it’s been since you’ve been away from home” Well, that’s raw! That’s a big damn difference from “Good Golly Miss Molly”. At 17, given the choice between time inside and the Job Corps, Shah signed on the dotted line and was soon stationed in Battle Creek, Michigan. For the first time Shah could take in the sights and sounds of traveling Chicago Blues bands like J.B. Hutto and Buddy Guy. A permanent move to Detroit led to a 10 year stretch as a shop rat at Ford Motors, where Shah wracked up an impressive 150 medical leaves of absence before a parting of ways with the automaker.

Now celebrating the bicentennial amongst the unemployed, Shah was inspired by a street musician named Little Bobby to purchase a pawn shop harp and begin a serious study of the Blues. His timing couldn’t have been better as Detroit was then as now a city rich in blues talent. Bobo Jenkins, Eddie Burns, Robert Richard, Little Sonny, the Butler Twins and Little Junior Cannaday all plied their trade in the Motor City. While driving for Checker Cab, Shah was introduced to guitarist Peter Rabbitt, who brought him to the legendary jam sessions held at Uncle Jesse White’s house. “Hell, that was it, no turning back then” Shah recalls.

This past October Shah took a four hour drive down the highway to Liquid studio in Toronto, where he cut the material on this album, a follow up to 2003’s successful “Tell It To Your Landlord”. Joining Shah on the disc is some big time talent including W.C. Handy Blues Music Award winners Mel Brown and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith as well as guitar man Jack de Keyzer (ex-Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks), bass ace Alec Fraser, Bob Vespaziani and brilliant young bluesman Julian Fauth. Shah bonded with the crew at once and much blues music was played, after sifting through the smoldering wreckage, we are proud to present you with Harmonica Shah’s brand new CD. /Andrew Galloway

Markus James has been recording and performing original, Blues-based music with traditional Malian musicians since 1994, when he first made his way to the village of Niafounke, home of the legendary Sonrai musician Ali Farka Toure. Markus' critically acclaimed Mali-based albums have been warmly received in the US, Europe and Mali, and he was honored to have a track included in the UK compilation "Sahara- Blues of the Desert", alongside such great artists as Ali Farka Toure, Baaba Maal, Yousou N'Dour and Tinariwen. Markus' long-term collaborations in Timbuktu with 3 Malian master musicians is the subject of the award-winning documentary film "Timbuktoubab" ("Excellent" - Global Rhythm), seen on many PBS stations throughout the US.
Markus has performed at the Festival In The Desert 3 times, and in 2007, was invited to perform at the series of Jamal Poi tribute concerts for his friend and inspiration, Ali Farka Toure, in Bamako and Niafounke, which were broadcast on Malian national television. The UK's fROOTS Magazine called Markus "the unofficial dean of this movement" of up and coming US roots musicians whose focus is the African source.
Markus' new album "Snakeskin Violin" is a kaleidiscopic journey in which fellow travelers appear and vanish, and features collaborations with trance groove Wassoulou hunters in Bamako, a shaman in Timbuktu, old-school drummers in Como, Mississippi, traveling Tamasheks in California, and African Diaspora musicians in the US.

Susan Williams & the Wright Groove, a Chicago-based group, brings their combined experience and the use of two basses to the stage to wow audiences with their unique, funky approach to the blues. They went to Memphis in January 2018, and competed in the International Blues Challenge! Their first CD together, “It’s About Time,” was released in January 2018, and is moving up the blues charts. This CD showcases all originals, nine written by vocalist/bassist Susan Williams, and two written by guitarist, Mike Gallemore. Arrangements were overseen by Darryl Wright, bassist/ music director.
Susan Williams, lead singer and bassist, hails from Chicago, and has been playing and singing professionally with her own band for over 30 years. Her powerful voice is reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt, with a tinge of Janis Joplin, and has been described as “rich and smoky, with perfect raspiness.”
Chicago native, Darryl Wright, the second bassist in the band, has toured the world with Mavis Staples, among others, and brings his incredible ability to this group in the form of masterful ensemble playing and amazing bass solos.
Mike Gallemore is a lifetime musician, primarily known for his guitar and songwriting skills. Mike has toured and played with many Chicago Blues artists, and has released two CD’s of his own. Rob Davis is a seasoned session and touring drummer who’s been a part of the Chicago music scene for over twenty years.

One of the most entertaining and talented live rhythm and blues variety bands in St Louis, MO

Edicks Way is not new to the St Louis area. It was first founded in 1975 by Greg Edick. He named the band "Edicks Way" in honor to his father, George Edick, founder of The Club Imperial. George did things 'his own way' and was very successful promoting talent soon to become superstars....Ike and Tina Turner and Michael McDonald were a part of it all. If you'd like more history, click the Club Imperial pic on the right.

Entertainment was Greg's childhood. His first guitar was given to him by Ike Turner....True Story. Greg left Edicks Way in 1980 when he joined the Gene Edlin band. Gene got a recording deal with Columbia Records Unfortunately, the album was never finished. Greg reunited with vocalist, Vicky Michaels and four of St Louis’ most talented musicians to reform band with an edgy old school groovin' R&B, Blues and Rock feel.

A newly minted NY State Blues Hall of Fame inductee (August, 2018), Singer/songwriter Willa Vincitore has been building a fan base across the Hudson Valley for nearly two decades. While her songwriting is an eclectic mix of blues, soul, rock, funk and (occasionally) pop, there’s one thing that ties it all together—that voice.

Willa’s debut CD, Better Days, was released in early 2017 and was critically acclaimed by reviewers around the globe. The Blues and Roots Music Report listed it as one of the Top 50 Contemporary Blues releases of 2017. Her sophomore release, Choices, (out 12/14/18) continues to showcase her eclectic songwriting, digging deeper lyrically and rejecting classification in any one genre. Many influences can be heard here, ranging from ‘70s and ‘80s pop, rock and R&B, to Americana, blues and even gospel tones. Unlike Better Days, which was entirely original material, Willa chose to cover one tune on this release, paying homage to Annie Lennox with her funky cover of Money Can’t Buy It.

Concertist and singer Matej Ptaszek with his teammates Jan Stehlik and Jan Cihak made a new album Screaming The Blues. The album was made in the studio, but it was shot live. The musicians have dedicated it to this year's half-century anniversary since the legendary Woodstock Festival, held in a meadow near the American town of Bethel. The album is in the spirit of the blues bands that played at the festival - Canned Heat or The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - and other bluesmen who have reached the rockers of that time. Woodstock has influenced for several generations forever and still acts as proof that love, freedom and music are inseparable.

Just like its title, Bill Sims' eponymous PBS / Warner Brothers debut is unpretentious and solid: it's this singer-guitarist's personal overview of the blues. Sims' voice at its most soulful suggests a blues Gil Scott-Heron or Lou Rawls -- smooth, deep rather than flashy, and bittersweet. Some of his guitar solos somehow sound like that too. He transforms "Nobody's Fault But Mine" into a backporch banjo stomp, and tunes by Big Bill Broonzy and Charley Patton into shifty New Orleans second-line funk. Peter Rogan is a guitarist/songwriter living outside the Philadelphia area near Reading, Pa. Peter's music is a blend of Americana, blues, funk, and jazz. He is also a two-time finalist in the Great American Song Contest in 2014 and 2016. And a winner in the instrumental category in 2017 for a composition he co-wrote with Chris Heslop called "Song for Keith".

Peter Rogan grew up in the 1970's playing rock and blues. He discovered jazz in his late teens and started to study music more seriously in his early twenties. Not fitting in with the hair bands of the early 80's, Peter abandoned rock and roll and dove into jazz full-time. He moved to NYC in 1985 and studied with Leni Stern, took some one off lessons with John Abercrombie and Wayne Krantz and tried to play and jam as much as possible with people in the jazz world. Returning to Pennsylvania to take a steady paying musical job, he began playing weddings, bar mitzvahs, and all kinds of society jobs in and around the eastern PA, NJ, and New York areas. He did this for many years. Finally leaving a musical career to better support his wife and three children. Peter currently works in a steel mill in Reading, Pa.

For the last 3 years, Peter has been writing songs with Grammy winning songwriter/musician Phil Madeira from Nashville. Phil has helped Rogan record tracks for an upcoming full length CD entitled "Still Tryin' to Believe". The music is a unique blend of Americana roots music, with funk, rock and jazz mixed in. Taking all the varied influences from a long career as a gigging musician, Peter hopes to make something new and uniquely his to share with the world.

82 years after the late great Robert Johnson records at the Gunter Hotel, I got the chance to step into the comer of room 414!

Let me start out by saying that the purpose of this recording wasn't to fully imitate Robert Johnson. As Jimi Hendrix once mentioned, ''l've been imitated so well l've heard people copy my mistakes." Though l'm sure you'll hear mistakes that l've copied and hear some of my own mistakes, this album is if anything, a tribute or commemoration of Johnson's original works of art.

I recorded the album 'RAW' and all at the same time, ''NOT track-on-track." I didn't hide anything. - - Even though this album is much cleaner than the RJ recordings from the 1930's, we are now in a digital age of technology. Set that aside and you'll still hear the talking of the busy crossroads of E. Houston St. and N. Saint Mary's St. - - In fact, there were lots of times that it was too loud and I had to stop and start over again. Cars, buses and big trucks passing by along with your friendly neighborhood 'boom-boxing' vehicles made for an interesting week.

My hope is that you really enjoy listening to the album as I've enjoyed recording it. I was in good company during the recording and could feel the musical spirit of Johnson as I closed my eyes and dived into the comer that so many before and after me will do!

Learning the music of Robert Johnson would not have been possible without the help of Tom Feldmann. - - lf you get inspired by this recording and would like to learn the Delta croon of Johnson, then I would recommend Tom, as he will walk you through step-by-step instruction - - either in one of his workshops or through video.

I will say, I had blended Tom's style with RJ's, - - and mine,- - and even then - - still missed some in between... much gratitude and gratefulness to my fans, friends and family for continuing to support my music and me!
