The Levees are one of the most dynamic bands on the music scene today. Their intense live show recently helped the group break the online attendance record on the Muscle Shoals to Music Row live radio/internet show…a feat accomplished strictly by word-of-mouth. Standing ovations are common after a blistering set from the band. Some fans have a hard time describing just what type of music they play but the band’s concept is really quite simple.

After backing many of country music’s finest, these Louisiana natives felt the need to express love for their home state. The focus would be to write and perform songs that vividly depict people, life, and situations throughout the state of Louisiana without being regionally specific. Their first self-produced CD includes songs that describe the life of a New Orleans street performer in “Electric Shoes”, a special appearance of a Lincoln Parish sheriff in “Blood River”, and the true story of a man, “Joe Wilson”, who spent his entire life sawing pine trees in northwest Louisiana. These stories float atop a swampy sound that is totally unique to The Levees.
