The latest album 'Mighty Fine' also proves the class of this band. Leif and Sem Jansen (vocals, guitar) fight out the most wonderful guitar duels on the album, excellently supported by Boris Oud (bass), the two drummers Tim Koning and Joram Bemelmans and keyboardist Jeroen Ermens.

The album is opened in a sparkling way by the surging Rosalie . An intimate song with Michel van Dijk-like vocals by Sem Jansen and biting guitar work. Hard To Hold is a Southern Rock song that floats on a Bo Diddley beat. A song that once again features a wonderfully melancholy guitar sound.

A highlight is the cover of Neil Young's Southern Man on which Berget Lewis proves (once again) to be the best Dutch soul singer. The cover has a funky groove with room for melodic guitar work and the screeching Hammond of Jeroen Ermens. The intimately grooving Lone Star then again has a high Allman quality.

Home Wrecker highlights the Ramblin' Man-esque Allman side of the band. The gently swaying Small Town mixes Albatross (Fleetwood Mac)-like guitar work with light Whipping Post (Allmans) influences. Gumbo Man is a heavy funky instrument metal with a lot of Little Feat influence and a leading role for the biting guitar work. Fool For Love is then an intimate soulful song with hard Roy Buchanan-like guitar work.

The album's closing track, Charade Man , is a grimly grooving song with jazz-rock touches.

Once again the Leif de Leeuw Band proves its top class with this excellent album! ~Peter Marinus

The Leif de Leeuw band is a jam band formed around the name giver and guitarist Leif de Leeuw. The young guitarist won several prizes including twice the "Sena Young Talent Guitar Award" (2009/2013) and four times in a row "Best Blues / Rock Guitarist Benelux" by readers the magazine "The Guitarist". The same success applies to the band. In 2014 they won the "Dutch Blues Challenge" and in 2015 they were named "Best band 2015" by the European Blues Awards. Despite these blues prizes, the band is not limited by styles. Genres such as funk, soul, roots, fusion, country and rock appear in their shows with extensive jams. Characteristic is that every performance is unique, there is plenty of room for improvisation. A large part of the music is created on stage and is a surprise every time even for the musicians.

In the early days, the Leif de Leeuw band was a four-man formation. In the line-up of two guitarists, a singer, bassist and drummer, the band released an EP and two albums.

In 2018, the band began to feel the need to play in a more extensive formation. That is why they regularly played shows with the so-called "Leif de Leeuw band XL". With this band they recorded their third album "Live in Concert".

At the end of 2018 the band toured with an extra drummer and keyboard player as Allman Brothers band. This was such a success for both the audience and the band members that the band decided not to go back to a four-piece band in their own music either. The expansion was realized in January 2019. The permanent formation consisting of Leif de Leeuw (guitar), Sem Jansen (vocals and guitar), Boris Oud (bass) and Tim Koning (drums) was supplemented with Rick Linzel (keyboards and vocals) and Joram Bemelmans (drums).

“Good things come fast and will astonish you”. This saying is most certainly applicable to Dutch guitarist Leif de Leeuw and his band. It was not long ago, when Leif was known as ‘young and promising guitar player’, as he won the Sena Young Talent Guitar Award (2009 and 2013). Meanwhile Leif and his band have grown to be amongst the top of the Dutch blues scene. The repertoire of the band finds it origins in the blues, but does not shy away from other musical styles and genres. They distil their sound from decades of music history. One can clearly identify influences from rock, blues, soul, fusion and singer-songwriter music in their songs. The achievement of winning the Dutch Blues Challenge in 2014 confirms the status of the Leif de Leeuw Band. Very recently, the blues loving audience of Europe has showed their appreciation by voting for the European Blues Award, making the Leif de Leeuw Band win as ‘Best Band 2015’. The first full-blown album of these talented young musicians is a fact. In January 2016, they will present their new album called ‘Leelah’ to the world, in the ‘Boerderij’, Zoetermeer. Singer and guitarist Britt Jansen is responsible for the haunting and intriguing lyrics. There where words fall short, music speaks. Besides Leif de Leeuw and Britt Jansen, the band consists of bass guitarist Eibe Gerhartl and drummer Tim Koning.

With their new album "Until Better Times" the Leif de Leeuw Band presents a fresh sound with lots of influences from the seventies. After the success of their full length debut "Leelah" (2016) the band returns with a sizzling sophomore album. The single "Until Better Times" was released as an appetizer for the album in April. The fans loved it and the song has already been streamed well over 20.000 times.

The band worked two weeks in July 2017 with producer Jasper Ras, to come up with a sound that hints to Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin or Blackberry Smoke and Henrik Freischlader. Think driving percussion, intense twin guitar leads, swinging blues riffs, pumping Hammond (and other organ sounds by guest Willem 't Hart).
