Matt Leddy & The Meatcutters - Texas Tomfoolery

Size: 102.9 MB
Time: 43:58
File: MP3 @ 320K/s
Released: 2004
Styles: Texas Blues
Art: Full

01. Just A Little Bit (4:58)
02. T-Bone Shuffle (5:12)
03. Shaky Ground (4:06)
04. Don't Cut Off Your Hair (8:16)
05. I Ain't Drunk (3:57)
06. Parchman Farm (7:04)
07. Mean Old World (6:21)
08. Boom Boom (4:00)

Matt Leddy shows quite clearly how he came to acquire that distinction - by knocked-down, smokin' Texas Blues with one fine guitar in the lead. Besides bass and drums, there's some harmonica and keyboards thrown in to make things just that much more exciting. The roadhouse is on fire with this generous set of 8 songs, and Matt keeps his "pedal-to-the-metal" tradition alive and well on this blastin' CD. If you like your blues to move and to have some grit and edge, "Texas Tomfoolery" is an excellent choice for you. These blues aren't polite; they stand up and speak to you. Good rockin' blues!

Matt Leddy & The Meat Cutters occupy a unique place in the annals of modern Texas Blues. On May 14, 1999, The Meat Cutters performed their first show at Silky's Blues Bar on Houston's historical Washington Avenue. That night's lineup included Matt Leddy (guitar and vocals), 13 year-old Matt Borger (drums), Erich Dolch (guitar) and Brock Proctor (bass).

The name, The Meat Cutters can be attributed to one of Matt Leddy's friends from California, who decided that Matt needed an official blues handle, and dubbed him The Meat Cutter. Tony Vega made the name public. The rest is history.

Since their inception on Washington Avenue that steamy night in May of 1999, The Meat Cutters have worked non-stop, playing nearly 200 shows each year, and opening for such blues luminaries as W.C. Clark, Mike Morgan, Rod Piazza, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Anson Funderburgh, Guy Forsythe, Burt Wills, Bugs Henderson, Kenny Neal, Omar and The Howlers, Texas Johnny Brown, Jake Van Wilks, Iron Butterfly, The Marshall Tucker Band, and Jimmie Vaughan, along the way.

Throughout their history, The Meat Cutters have maintained a reputation for excellent musicianship and great entertainment, earning them the title of Houston's Best Blues Band (texasbluesmusic.com) in 2002 and Texas' Best Blues Band (Real Blues Magazine) in 2003. Such success can be attributed to Matt Leddy's enduring policy of hiring outstanding musician's, who's primary motivation for playing is their passion for the blues, who possess outstanding work ethics, and who sacrifice their individual needs for the overall interests of the band.

The current line-up continues this incomparable tradition, as Matt Leddy (guitar, vocals), Jim Embry (guitar, vocals), Carl Owens (drums, vocals) and R.J. Korner (bass, vocals), collaborate to produce the Meat Cutter's famous Texas Roadhouse Sound!
