Anyone lucky enough to stumble across Little Buster's 1995 debut album for Bullseye Blues might well have been asking themselves, "Where's this guy been all this time?" The answer: for the last three decades or so, the blind guitarist has been serving up his soulful brand of blues around his adopted home of Long Island, NY, with his band, the Soul Brothers.

Edward "Little Buster" Forehand was born on September 28, 1942 in Hereford, NC. He left the North Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind when he was 16 years old, moving to New York and breaking into the local R&B scene almost immediately. Buster recorded sparingly during the '60s, waxing the Doc Pomus-penned "Young Boy Blues" for Jubilee in 1967. But the world-at-large remained ignorant of Buster's impressive command of the soul and blues lexicons until 1995, when Right on Time! blew onto the contemporary scene like an unexpected breath of fresh air. Looking for a Home followed in 1997. While his recorded output has unfortunately been sparse, Buster continues to tour consistently playing clubs and festivals throughout the world. /Biography by Bill Dahl, AllMusic

Born in Hertford, North Carolina, he moved to Westbury, Long Island at age sixteen. His first professional gig was at the Brooklyn Paramount, where he was a back-up guitarist for Alan Freed's Rock and Roll shows. He also became a regular at Long Island clubs.

In 1961, Buster composed his first original song "Looking For a Home" while living in Glen Cove. First recorded on Josie/Jubilee after winning a talent contest at Harlem's Apollo Theater in 1964, Buster released "Looking For a Home". He recorded a series of singles there, including his biggest hit in 1968, Doc Pomus' "Young Boy Blues". Buster's last single with Josie was "City of Blues" / "Cry Me a River". His singles and several new compositions were compiled for the 1970 album, Looking For a Home that was finally by the UK label Sequel in 1997.

Buster changed his focus, concentrating on live blues with his band, The Soul Brothers. Buster married his wife, Mary, in 1969.

In 1995, Buster recorded his Bullseye release, Right On Time. This release brought him worldwide exposure, with a W.C. Handy Award nomination, and a runner-up award for Living Blues magazine's Critics' Award. His 2000 CD Work Your Show opened up mass media exposure via CBS This Morning, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, on Dan Aykroyd's House of Blues Hour, international music festivals, and articles in Juke Blues, Backyard Blues and 20th Century Guitar magazines.

In 2000, Buster began his own label with friends Steve Kleinberg and Ayanna Hobson, where he released his final CD, Little Buster and the Soul Brothers, Live Volume One. His band consisted of himself on guitar and vocals, Jerry Harshaw on saxophone, Frank Anstiss on drums, Alan Levy on bass and Robert Schlesinger on keyboards. "Edward 'Little Buster' Forehand is a sublimely talented soul singer, a tough blues guitarist and a sure-handed songwriter with a knack for making rhythm and blues songs that evoke the classic 1960s sound. As one of New York's great undiscovered treasures, Buster has played the Long Island club circuit for over four decades."
During four decades many musicians honed their skills in Buster's band. These included Lee Vaughn on saxophone, Val and Cousin Brucie on bass guitar, Lionel Cordew on drums, Jonathan Kampner on drums, Eileen Murphy on drums (now with the Borinquen Blues Band), Chris Candida on drums, Ed Hoey on percussion, Gene Cordew on keyboards, Roast Beef Joe on keyboards, and guitarists Scott Ross, and Stevie Cochran.

In 2004, Little Buster suffered from a series of strokes. In May 2006, he died as a result of complications from those strokes and diabetes. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Long Island Blues Society in 2002 for his efforts on behalf of music. He was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006. ~Wikipedia

Little Buster & The Soul Brothers take a walk on the soul side of the blues on Work Your Show. A far grittier vocalist than Shields, Buster is equally adept at Jimmy Reed boogie shuffles like “Down in Virginia” or “Ain’t That Lovin’ You Baby,” righteous slow blues like “Baby How Blue Can You Get?” and soulful serenades like Bobby Womack’s “Jealous Love” and Dave Malone’s gospel-flavored “You’re Gonna Make Me Cry.” He turns in a faithful version of Lloyd Price’s New Orleans stroll “Just Because,” rocks in rowdy good fashion on “Hi Heel Sneakers” and jumps on the unaccompanied boogie “Mojo Hand” with youthful vigor. This is one blues vet who still has fun on his gig. That enthusiasm shines through on each track here.

Buster was born in Hereford, North Carolina, at the age of 3 Buster developed Glaucoma, as a young Boy his Musical Career started as a Vocalist. By the time he completely lost his eyesight, Buster learned how to play 6 Instruments, including the Guitar which he consistently played, while attending the North Carolina School for the Blind.

As a Teenager Buster relocated to Long Island, New York. In 1959 Buster began his Professional Musical Career as a back-up Guitar Player in Alan Freed's 'ROCK AND ROLL SHOWS', the premier Showcase for many future World Class Entertainers, that was at Brooklyn's Paramount Theater. In addition Buster was performing on a regular basis in the Bars and Clubs on Long Island.

In 1964 Buster won a Talent Contest at the World famous 'APOLLO THEATER', and caught the attention of Jerry Blaine, who ran the Jubilee and Josie Record Company. Buster signed with Jubilee/Josie records, and recorded his Composition 'LOOKING FOR A HOME', which became a Radio Hit in the local markets on the East Coast. Throughout the 1960's Buster recorded for Jubilee/Jossie Records, his biggest Hit was in 1968. The name of the song was 'YOUNG BOY BLUES' which was written by Legendary Song Writer Doc Pomus. Doc Pomus said that "Buster's Overwhelming Version Of This Song Was The Best Rendition That He Ever Heard", far outstripping Ben E. King's cover of the Song. The last Single that Buster recorded for Jubilee/Josie Records was 'CITY OF BLUES/CRY ME A RIVER' Jubilee/Josie Records recorded Buster's first Album, compiled of previously released 45's and some additional original Compositions in 1970. The title of the Album was 'LOOKING FOR A HOME', but unfortunately due to the financial demise of Jubilee/Josie Records this album was never released, and was put in storage in the Company Vault.

In the 1970 Buster put his Recording Career on hold and concentrated on Live Performances throughout New York. Buster paid his dues as an opening Act. These Shows featuring his unbelievable Vocals and Guitar playing, resulted in his Legendary Entertainer status in New York that still remains today.

In 1996, Buster revived his Recording Career, with the release of his CD, 'RIGHT ON TIME' on Rounder/Bullseye Records. This CD compiled mostly of Buster's original Compositions received Worldwide acclaim, and resulted in a W.C.HANDY AWARD, Nomination, and received runner-up status for the LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE CRITICS AWARD. Buster's Recording Career moved forward in 2000, with the release of another CD, 'WORK YOUR SHOW' on Fedora Records. This CD also received rave reviews by the Music Critics throughout the World. These accolades created the opportunity for Buster to perform on 'CBS This Morning', 'Late Night With Connan O'Brien','The David Letterman Show', 'The Chris Rock Show', and 'Dan Ackroyd's House Of Blues Hour'. Buster has also been featured in Periodicals such as 'Juke Blues Magazine' and ' 20th Century Guitar'. This increased exposure created the opportunity for Buster to Perform in Concerts and Music Festivals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Little Buster Is A Sublimely Talented Soul Singer, A Tough Blues Guitarist And A Sure Handed Songwriter With A Knack For Making R&B Songs That Evoke The Classic 1960s Sound. Buster Has Played The Long Island Club Circuit For More than 4 Decades, Winning An Insider's Reputation As "One Of New York's Great Undiscovered Treasures".

Buster has always wanted to re-release his 45's, and in 1997, he learned that Sequel Records in England had obtained the rights to release all of the Songs on a CD.In the year 2000, Buster and his life long Friend Steve Kleinberg, along with Ayanna Hobson, formed Little Buster Records Inc. One of the many goals of this collaboration was to enable Buster to have complete control of his own Record Company, and his Music.
