Formed in 2011, this four piece fronted by charismatic vocalist and rhythm guitarist Carolin Rottmann have released a top drawer CD on Rhythm Bomb Records. The tagline is ‘Killer tunes from another planet’, well the Bavarian town of Bamberg in reality, and the Black Shack Recording Studio in Calw, but listening to the opening rocker and title track ‘By My Side’, you know where they’re coming from.
It’s as if house rocking blues met up with Rockabilly in the studio and produced this beauty of a bopper, with catchy guitar riffs and thumping bass line. If that doesn’t grab your attention….well shame on you. Carolina’s vocal delivery is a no nonsense style, occasionally embittered, angry and scolding, sometimes joyous, but always controlled and sultry, the perfect complement for the Rhythm Rockets excellent musicianship. Their sound is ballsy and full on, ranging from out an out Rockabilly, through Rhythm and Blues and pitches some surf in there as well. ~Andrew Smith
