“The equally ravishing singer Mattanja Joy Bradley, whose circus also consists of guitarist/singer Jimmy The Lounge, double bassist Toine Stout and drummer Beewee Nederkoorn, covers a wide range of atmospheres with her voice that adapts effortlessly within their nun in these eleven originals. -conformist approach to the roots disciplines that are racing by. From a seriously overdriven boogie like Tomboy Boogie to the blistering grinding blues Shelter Me, or the languid soul ballad Searching that wavers between influences of Otis Redding and Van Morrison, while Sad Sad Song is an effective tribute to our supreme howler Howlin' Wolf. The horny brooding opener Deal is the title track of a movie of the same name that premiered last month. We don't know what will happen. We predict Bradley's Circus a golden future based on this titillating debut

“Kickin' But Not High” is the title of their latest record and we can immediately reassure anyone who would have had the slightest doubt about the success plan of their latest. The album has the same level, more than that, it has become damn stronger. Mattanja and AndrĂ© divide the songs neatly among them both. Five by Bradley and six by Van den Boogaart's name. They wrote two others together. Thirteen songs in total and all nothing less than excellent. It starts with the wonderful hammering, thumping, pounding “I Want You”, a fantastic song that can be punched out and with the equally captivating rocking “Honey” you get a sublime sequel. You expect the song to explode at any moment. The menacing, musical character, however, is kept neatly within the exciting lines. You would almost think that the group has put its sublime unpredictability aside. Nothing could be further from the truth when you are treated to “Perdido na loucura” afterwards, with the horns playing a South American rhythm. AndrĂ© van den Boogaert found the inspiration for this impressive song from a friend of his who lived on an island in Brazil, became addicted to dope and died when his girlfriend was pregnant with him. The chorus “Perdido na loucura. Encountrei tudo o que procurava. Menos o caminho de casa” means “Lost in madness, he found everything he was looking for except his way home” (we also had to check) and also underlines what a formidable lyricism adorns this release. That's one of the nice things about this band. In their songs they sometimes playfully refer to previous releases or to their gratitude towards John Snyder, who again delivers fantastic production work. I'll let you discover them for yourself, the neat accompanying booklet will help you.

Anyone who has seen Bradley's Circus live once knows that this band evokes a lot of admiration. After Live in Holland and Shotgun Bunny, Bang Bang Wa Wee's is the band's third album around singer Mattanja Joy Bradley. On the CD, the previous bassist Toine Stout, who left the group in the middle of 2010, is specially thanked, and has since been replaced by Joris Verbogt. The previous CD was already a great achievement and Bang Bang Wa Wee's not only fits in seamlessly with that, but goes one step further. The 14 songs were recorded at the Dockside Studio in Maurice Louisiana under the direction of renowned producer John Snyder, who has worked with Lou Reed, Stan Getz, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Derek Trucks, among others. The recording quality and sound are great.
