12. Paris Rain ( 4:15)
13. Time To Cut You Loose ( 3:17)

Nico's shows are renowned for the energy that emanates from them and the contagious joy that spreads there. Trained at the school of American blues clubs that he has been attending since the age of 19, he has developed a unique approach to the stage where energy, charisma, harmonica and feeling are carried by a close-knit and efficient band.

A professional since 1998, he has recorded 14 albums under his own name, 12 of which were released on the Dixiefrog label. His tours have led him to rally new fans in France as well as in Belgium, Holland, the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Macedonia, Ecuador, Nigeria, Syria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Nico is concerned about bringing his blues wherever he is asked. He is therefore as capable of performing as a duo for an intimate concert, as of electrifying his music in quartet or quintet in the spirit of the Chicago Blues of the great masters of the genre. He also knows how to offer a Big Band version of his music, where the repertoire defended is that of the blues tinged with funk and soul of James Cotton, to whom he paid tribute in an album released on Dixiefrog in 2017.

Lately, Nico has also been performing solo guitar-harmonica-vocals and bringing to the stage a repertoire of street music, based on his original songs influenced by the blues and gospel of his roots.

Working with American musicians has long been a blues school for Nico and his band. They have welcomed guests such as Cash McCall, David Maxwell, Monster Mike Welch, and Killer Ray Allison on tours. Nico has recorded or worked with Rod Piazza, Guy Davis and Andrew Strong.

During his American stays, he shared the stage with James Cotton, Billy Branch, RJ Mischo, Luther Allison, Eddie C. Campbell, Vance Kelly, Jimmy Burns, Jimmy Johnson and many other names of the Chicago scene.

Nico Wayne Toussaint - My Kind Of Blues

Size: 335 MB
Time: 51:35
File: Flac
Released: 1998
Styles: Blues
Art: Front

1. Going Home (3:42)
2. Barbara (4:46)
3. Bad Boy (3:28)
4. Give Me A Kiss Baby (4:37)
5. Can't You Tell (4:05)
6. Cheaper To Keep Her (4:08)
7. West Helena Blues (5:29)
8. I Love You Babe (5:25)
9. Fever (4:17)
10. Walking Down College Street (4:54)
11. Bye Bye (6:39)

From this first album, released in 1998, Nico Wayne Toussaint showed the extent of his talent. When he blows his harmonica with vigor and conviction, he has the groove, there is no doubt; it does him well, his peachy, sharp, emotional and authentic timbre. He also knows how to play in his clear voice, with a touch of graceful notes. Sometimes you might think of Paul Personne, which is no mean compliment. Provided you accept this rather particular, very Frenchie tone, which must be taken as it is, even if it does not have quite the dusty flavor of the American great outdoors. You would have to be insensitive not to give in to the very compelling charm expressed in certain personal compositions (Give Me A Kiss Baby or Bye Bye for example, which he paradoxically interprets in French, with delightful nonchalance) or in this beautiful cover of a James Cotton record, West Helena Blues. Since then, Nico has grown in maturity and affluence, which has given him international stature; but he has lost a bit of the freshness that characterized his first album. This return to basics is all the more interesting... Finally, it should be noted that he is very well surrounded by a small band whose most robust blues emerge. On guitar Jeremy Johnson (lead), Phil Schmid (rhythm), Lee Tedreau (slide), on bass Billy Black and on drums Steve “Slim” Erickson.

Our French-American harp player and showman Nico Wayne Toussaint just realesed a damn roots and cracking bones blues with his pal Michel Foizon, a fantastic and very fine french guitarist. Both of them are inviting us in the deep south for a journey in the real big country and under a real "blue" sky… Harp playing, great singing, blue guitars and footstomping are the elements you'll find in this superb moment recorded in Miami by those great musicians!

Notes: Nico Wayne Toussaint, is born on august 1973 in Toulon, (France) and plays harmonica since the age of 18. He ran into the blues when he was 15, through the Muddy Waters' record "Hard Again" featuring James Cotton on harp. Since then, the wildness high energy and raw sound of James Cotton have been his musical credo.
Vent du Sud (Southern Wind) is the name of the first band founded when he was 20 with his father on piano. For three years, the two of them plus some other musicians added to the band over the years, toured all around the south west of France. In 1996 Nico go on his own with a band under his own name Nico and Friends , doing straight Chicago Blues..
The middle name, Wayne , comes from his American godfather, Wayne Ready, former resident of Minneapolis , Minnesota. On each one of those visits to the US , he spent a lot of time watching and listening to blues concerts, between Minneapolis , New Orleans and Chicago . Also on many occasions, he got to sit in with great musicians such as Jimmy Johnson, R.J. Mischo, Billy Branch, Luther Allison, Eddy C. Campbell, Cash Mc Call, Willy Kent to name a few. It happened to him at a young age, an age where those experiences have great impact on my musical education. In 1997, Nico record in Minneapolis his first cd C'est si Bon backed up by local musicians.
The collaboration with Dixiefrog Records goes back to 1998 with the album My Kind of Blues , recorded in one night in Minneapolis , with musicians from R.J Mischo?s band. Nico Wayne Toussaint recorded three other cd's on Dixiefrog before releasing in 2004 a double live album Transatlantic Live recorded in France and in the US , acclamed by both the audience and critics.
Since 1998, performing is his job, playing over 100 gigs a year all over the country but also in Europe (Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Macedonia, Italy and other parts of the wolrd (Canada, USA, Ecuador, Syria).
