Lucky Dog is the latest release from D.A. and the Hitmen, 12 originals songs by the songwriting team of Lance Dieckmann (VOCALS/HARMONICA) and Paul Alvarado (GUITAR). Lance Dieckmann’s vocals and harp are powerhouse. He’s got the rock sensibility that fits perfect with the kinda blues these guys are puttin’ down. Paul Alvarado’s guitar work can be ranked up there with all the top modern guys (…even a lot of the old guys for that matter!), with sounds ranging from Buddy Guy and B.B. King to David Gilmore and Carlos Santana. Rounding out the band are Hitmen, Bob Prater on bass and Gregg Henning or Jaime Luna alternating on drums. Layin’ down the low end with attitude and conviction, all these guys play for the song, not for showing off their chops.

Brother Lance Dieckmann, and Mr.Paul Alvarado. . . two familiar names in the San Diego live music scene over the years. Fans of their former bands will be glad to hear that they are up and running once again this time with an all new self produced record! D. A. and The Hitmen is the band, the rocking ten original song debut CD is called Looking Past The Blues. This record is road trip ready and will make a strong contribution to just about any music collection.
Featuring the steady rhythm of Jaime Luna on the drums/percussion, and the deep rolling pocket of Brad Engstrom on the bass guitar, with a special appearance by Bill Tisch on the very soulful tenor saxophone in the track titled September Moon. Lance Dieckmann checks in here with some very groovy lyrics, that mighty mighty thunderous voice, amazing phrasing and absolute mind altering harmonica tone, Mr. Paul Alvarado rounds out this tightly knit unit with that ever cool signature guitar work that is always bound to get your foot tapping.
A few of my personal favorites would include Minuteman, Blue Menagerie and the always popular Monkey Dance. Think of these fellas when looking for music and entertainment. . . Get in the car and go out and support this fine local band. ~Chet Cannon
