Emil Arvidsson began early in his career as a rhythm & blues artist. This after seeing his older colleagues play live. What he saw would change everything! That they could express themselves so honestly and brutally, was something that he had unconsciously been looking for. After spending all his free time playing his guitar, and running on a well-known jam session, he founded The Young Guns. Already after a few years the orchestra appeared on some of the greatest jazz and blues scenes in Sweden and Europe. During the following years, the band made more than 350 appearances and two albums. Emil got the chance to meet and perform with artists such as Little Ed, Otis Grand, Sven Zetterberg, Knock-Out Greg just to name a handful.
After some time the members of The Young Guns went in different directions, but the guitar amplifier barely had time to cool down until Emil was running with his new project - Emil & The Ecstatics. The orchestra is mentioned today as one of the top names on the Swedish blues scene, with nothing but praise for the self-titled debut album. The band's mix of blues and soul (mostly original material), Emil's powerful voice and blue tones from his guitar, a boiling cauldron of Hammond organ-drums-bass, topped with a colorful visual live show, has been received with standing ovations from audiences throughout Europe.
Emil & The Ecstatics consists of Emil Arvidsson (vocals, guitar), Johan Bendrik (Hammond organ), Mats Hammarlöf (bass) and Tom Steffensen (drums).

Stockholm based Emil & The Ecstatics is nowadays a well-known name on the European roots scene. After countless festivals, clubs, and three full-length albums, the band has proved to be a force to reckon with. Apart from the many great album reviews, The Ecstatics put a great effort in what they do best - live shows. This have been confirmed by many ecstatic audiences all over Europe. This, their third album “Bit By Bit”, consists of a number of original tunes in the midlands of blues & soul music without being to conservative for that matter. Take a trip to Hawaii in “The Hula” or perhaps a short visit to a 60's horror screening in “The Spook”. Or what about a trip down “Highway 4”, Swedens own Chitlin Circuit? Get ready for a cruel mix of roots music!

"Many people have asked about a live album with Ecstatics, and in connection with the gig at Fasching we rigged up a 24 channel recording device to capture the evening on record. It is played wrong somewhere, the crowd yelling and screaming, and the atmosphere is boiling. As we think it should be live. Here we are treated to a set of blues, soul and rhythm 'n' blues the Emil & The Ecstatics way. Own material mixed with others, and greeted by a fantastic audience."
Personnel:
Emil Arvidsson - vocals, guitar
Johan Bendrik - hammond organ, piano
