Nienke Dingemans is a 19 year old singer-songwriter from a little town in the South-West of The Netherlands. Equipped with a strong and mature voice with character and a great musical talent she knows how to impress her audience despite her young age. Not only with her love for Blues, Americana, Country, Jazz and Soul but also her ability to sing from the heart. Nienke plays (slide)guitar, lapsteel and piano.

Her love for the blues started when she was only 12 years old, simply by making music with two family friends every Saturday morning. Singing lessons from mentor/teacher Caspar de Jonge and regularly attending concerts (Beth Hart, Tedeschi Trucks Band, North Sea Jazz and various other known and unknown artists, make that she kept on growing. At a young age she already went on stage regularly on jam sessions at Gebouw T in Bergen op Zoom, a great opportunity to perform live under the guidance of experienced musicians.

Writing her own songs began when she could accompany herself, first on the piano, later on the guitar. Her lyrics are often poetic and tell a story.

In 2020 she started to work with producers and multi-instrumentalists Jan van Bijnen and Joost Verbraak which resulted in the release of her first EP ‘Devil on my Shoulder’ at the end of 2021. This immediately got her a number 1 at the Americana Roots Top 13 and a number 5 position at the EuroAmericanaChart of January 2022.

With her own songs suddenly things seem to speed up: touring Dutch and Belgian theaters with the show ‘Hoe een Meisje van 14 de Blues kreeg’ together with Verbraak | Van Bijnen and Joris Verbogt, festival shows, a live performance at premier Dutch music station Radio Veronica, live interview on Dutch TV from North Sea Jazz, nomination for best CD by the Dutch Blues Foundation, podcast with Simon Keizer and a column by famous Dutch writer Mart Smeets in the VARA-magazine dedicated to her music.

With the Nienke Dingemans Band she’s support act for Ana Popovic, Jan Akkerman and at the SENA Guitar Night for Adrian Vandenberg. End 2023 she’s invited for a guest performance at the concert of American singer/songwriter Jim Keller at the famous Blue Room Sessions. In October 2023 Nienke receives the award for Jong Blues Talent from the Dutch Blues Foundation. An award which she is very proud of.

2024 already looks very promising as it marks the release of her new album on vinyl: ‘Ain’t No Hollywood Girl’, produced by Verbraak | van Bijnen Recordings. And… as of February she will be touring as support act of ‘NevenProject’, a new musical project of Jack Poels, frontman of Rowwen Hèze. At this tour Nienke will play solo at a string major rock venues in The Netherlands.

Next Saturday, the now 10-year-old band is changing its name. As support act for Danny Keetels & The Shrunken BigBand, they will present themselves to the public this evening. “The new line-up is so different from before that we chose a new name 'BluezzTwisters' and that also shows what we stand for: danceable songs with a blues base”, Mark van Lieshout explains the change of course. The band will consist of Theo van der Heijden on drums, Koos Boer on guitar & vocals, Mark van Lieshout on bass and now supplemented with Robbert Kooijmans on trumpet, Ronny Keetels on trombone, Paul van den Oever on Tenor sax. The band's first performance was in 2011 in the Eggels family garden. "We were four people, Koos Boer guitar & vocals, Theo van der Heijden drums, Harm van Oss trumpet player and Mark van Lieshout bass. Harm, our trumpet player, stopped last year, so you start wondering what to do next and what we actually want. We want everyone to have a nice evening where they can preferably dance. In the first five years of our existence as Four Bluezz we had a number of jazz numbers, which could still be possible now, but the emphasis is still on uptempo funky, bluezy numbers. A number of them also tend towards soul. So all in all very diverse. Furthermore, we are going from a quartet to a sextet, so six people. Adding three wind instruments makes everything much more powerful and varied. We are moving a bit further away from the jazzy numbers, towards more uptempo numbers. But with BluezzTwister we are rubbing up against all those musical currents. Blues, jazz, soul, r&b and boogaloo. It's all still there and not gone from us. Every now and then a somewhat slower blues ballad can come out. In City Theater we won't do that. Only uptempo numbers", says the bass guitarist. The band has of course also experienced many great performances in those ten years. “The first time will of course remain, but also the times we performed at 1Ander Festival and Pleinpop. Furthermore, we are a regular during the Battle of the Bands in the former Hopbel, which we will also participate in this year in March.” When music lovers come to see you, what can they expect? “An energetic sextet with which you can create a great atmosphere in many a venue. The composition of BluezzTwisters, and especially the choice of music, is such that we fit in very well with the outdoor festivals, such as the many jazz and blues festivals that are held in many places in the country. That is the direction we want to go. On Saturday 28 January we will play with BluezzTwisters for the first time in the new composition with a cool set full of swing numbers. We will open the evening together with Danny Keetels his Daniel Calderas & the Shrunken BigBand. We hope to see you there”, says the ambitious musician.
