Maurizio Glielmo, guitarist, singer and founding leader of the Gnola Blues Band, an artist with a long and prestigious background in the Italian blues scene. For years, alongside the legendary Fabio Treves he walked the stages of the most important Italian and international festivals as well as participating in the recording of two albums "Treves 3" in 1985 and "Sunday's blues" in 1988 where there is the presence of important artists such as Chuck Leavell (formerly with Rolling Stones, Almann Brothers, Eric Clapton, and others), Dave Kelly (Blues Band) hero of the British Blues, Pick Withers (drummer of Dire Straits).
The frenetic live activity and musical credibility of Maurizio and the GBB materialize thanks to the participation in the various Italian and European Blues festivals that allow him to perform alongside internationally renowned artists, bringing him to the finish line of his first recording "effort" "First Step "from 1990 which collects flattering reviews from specialized critics (Il Blues, Buscadero, Fare Musica, Mucchio Selvaggio, etc.) up to the second studio album" Walkin 'through the shadows of the blues "which won the prize as best jazz & blues record of the year 2000 and was delivered by Ernesto De Pascale (Rai 2) at the Bordighera blues festival.
Deep connoisseur of the use of dobro and of the “slide” technique in general, he expresses himself with personality in this technique to the point of being considered a specialist at national level. This ability allows him to be invited as a session man for productions that are not purely blues but bordering on pop, rock and pop music. Participations as a soloist in other productions continue: "Goin 'home" Rava BB, "On the good foot" Back in Blues Band, "Vivo sulla luna" Matteo Bassi, "Thank you very much" Max Pezzali, "Mother earth" Tazenda, " And I always left ”Davide Van de Sfroos.
In the summer of 2003 from the meeting with the singer from Atlanta, Sandra Hall, an intense collaboration was born that continues to this day with a series of concerts at major festivals in Italy (including Pistoia Blues 07) and in Europe and with recording of the cd "Red Bone Woman" (2007), eleven songs of which nine signed by Glielmo with Sandra Hall herself.
In 2006 the album "Gnola Blues Band live at Spazio Musica" was released, recorded in two evenings at the "local historian" of Pavia, and also for this work there are excellent reviews from the major specialized magazines.
In the summer of 2009 the band accompanies the singer guitarist Roy Roberts with a series of concerts in the most important blues festivals in Italy and Europe.
In September of the same year Maurizio Glielmo starts the recordings with Jimmy Ragazzon and from there shortly "Blues, ballads and songs" comes out for the GOOD COMPANY label, mostly acoustic work that re-proposes traditional blues songs and personal reinterpretations of some covers . In March 2010 the last work to celebrate the twenty years of the band, "20 Years on the Road" (also for the GOOD COMPANY) cd that appears as a "The Best" with songs extracted from previous works and with the addition of 5 new unreleased songs.
Since April 2010 Maurizio “Gnola” Glielmo is the live and studio guitarist of singer-songwriter Davide Van De Sfroos.
