Louis King (The ‘Mr Hyde’ to Tommy McEwan) bounces back from his last adventure in Retro Land, 2007’s ‘Standing in The Sun’, with a new set of 10 original songs, which take the blues and roots formula’s and turn them on their head and enough lyrical complexity to keep any pedantic lyric reader analyzing for ever. He takes on all the heavy stuff, taking a big acidic swipe at religion, politicians, war, regret, loss and hypocrisy; his own included!

Louis has been at the top of the roots music scene in Australia since his first CD (Louis King & The Liars Klub) was released in 1996. His music is a dangerous mix of blues and rockabilly songwriting with a stage act that is a mixture of an outback roadhouse and a Glasgow pub dance.

Louis King, Blues and Rockabilly musician and songwriter.
In 1995 Louis King and the Liars Klub released their debut self-titled album to critical acclaim and picked up 'Album of the Year' from Melbourne's Age Newspaper. The year also saw the band play support to legendary acts, Screaming J Hawkins and Buddy Guy as well as having their song "Werewolf Baby" nominated for a A.R.I.A. Award after being covered by Sydney personality Doug Mulray.

In 1996 Louis King and combo continued making inroads by playing shows around the country including their first East Coast Blues Festival. With sales of their debut CD still going strong they decided to put off the release of their next album until the following year.

Louis King and the Liars Klub released the follow up to their critically acclaimed first release last year. 'Hoodoo Man' has already received rave reviews and national airplay in its first few weeks of release. What started out as a predominantly blues act has now managed to cross over into the mainstream/commercial
market because of the broad appeal 'Hoodoo Man' has. As TV Week's Jeff Jenkins says, "Hoodoo Man will be a favourite with blues aficionados, the cocktail set and people who just love a great groove".

With Australia already recognising Louis King and the Liars Klub - King picked up Best New Male Artist at the Australian Blues Music Awards in '97 - the band have started making inroads into the US market, with a recent CD review in 'Blues Revue' and having the song "Lonesome for Long" featured in a forthcoming US movie.
After a self imposed Hiatus Louis's 3rd CD "Sharp Like A Bowling Ball" will be released in early March 2002 and contains 10 new original tracks wot a stated aim of making the "blues party album of the year".

The release will herald an East Coast tour in March including a long awaited return to the Byron Bay Bluesfest.
Louis King is a dynamic stage performer who has been described as "The greatest front man since Ghengis Kahn"(Melb Sun Herald) and as "coming out on stage Like a Haggis from Hell"(Bris.on the street)
King has performed at most of the biggest festivals in the country as well as being chosen to open for Buddy Guy and B.B. King in Australia.

Louis King has been a stalwart of the Australian music scene , known for his original blues inspired recordings and sometimes outrageous stage act. This Cd is a set of new original Tunes inspired by the Sound of The Memphis "Sun Sessions". recordings. The original 1950's sessions were Sam Phillips's groundbreaking attempts to Fuse Black Rhythm and Blues music of the 1940's and 50's with white hillbilly music to make it acceptable to white audiences, This we know today as Rock'n'Roll but in those days it was seen as dangerous "Race music". Inspired by these early recordings, Louis King has attempted to write a group of songs in that style, using traditional instrumentation, such as acoustic guitars, Slap Bass Spring Reverbs, tiny valve amps and semi-acoustic guitars.

To get the sounds right and achieve the simplicity of the style was a difficult songwriting task for a contemporary songwriter such as Louis but he has achieved this homage to his heroes such as Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochrane, Jerrie Lee lewis and early Roy Orbison. He had to start with some of the best and most authentic musicians in the country. First choice for the electric guitars was Peter Baylor, a Melbourne institution and part of the famous Baylor Brothers. Peter has lent his sound to The Swingin Sidewalks, Flatfoot Shakers, Starliners and the Roadhouse Romeo's. The slap style double bass (or bull fiddle) is played by Mike St Clair Miller aka "The Baron" from Benny and the Fly by Nighters and Starliners. Drums were played by long time collaborator and Alter Ego Tommy McEwan who produced and recorded the CD. The tracks were mixed by Trevor Reading who also provided electric bass.
