Their latest album, Our Time to Ride, was recorded at Studio MixArt in Montreal by producer Eric Corne, with further work at Forty Below Studios in L.A. and Sound Arts in Houston.

It's an electrifying mix of blues-rooted grooves, soulful melodies, and rock-driven riffs. The album was largely recorded live, giving it an organic energy that mirrors their live performances. Internationally acclaimed artists, American soul-blues singer Annika Chambers and Canadian Blues-rocker Paul DesLauriers have unified their personal and artistic destiny. After a brief introduction in Memphis at the 2018 International Blues Challenge, they met again at a 2019 recording session and got married in August of that year.

Now they have come together to create a powerful, soulfully rocking album that’s an inspiration and a balm for life in today’s world. GOOD TROUBLE started as Pandemic therapy, as newlyweds Annika and Paul got together with guitarist JP Soars and drummer Chris Peet in Peet’s Florida home studio. The collaboration grew and blossomed.

“Think Mavis Staples meets the Rolling Stones,” says Annika, as the aggressive guitars of DesLauriers and Soars mix with her glorious, soulful pipes to create socially conscious music with a message, original songs reflecting today’s issues plus some carefully chosen covers from artists including Joe South, George Harrison, and Little Willie John, plus an unrestrained version of Mountain’s rock classic, “Mississippi Queen.”

Paul is a 2-time winner of the Maple Blues “Entertainer of the Year” Award in his native Canada, and Annika is a 2-time winner of the “Soul Blues Female of the Year” Blues Music Award. Both released VizzTone albums in 2019.

Co-founded in Montreal, Canada in 1992 by guitarist Paul Deslauriers and pianist Paul Buonassisi, these boys were deemed by some critics at the time to be "Canada's hottest blues-rock band". After a year of extensive touring in eastern Canada, selling out clubs and woo-ing festival goers everywhere like at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the band relocated to Vancouver to branch out and create a larger and more diversified fan base. Their official recording debut came in 1994, when they gave us "What A Way To Make A Living" and then "Bone-ified" in 1995; two independent gems that sold extremely well, without any official form of distribution!

A definite highlight for the band was kicking off their "Bone-ified Tour" opening up for one of Canada's top bluesmen, Colin James, on his cross Canada jaunt in the summer of '95. They followed that up in May of '96 by snatching the 1st runner-up position in Demo Listen Derby, the highly esteemed contest held annually by Vancouver's no. 1 rock radio station 99.3 The Fox. Paul Deslauriers picked up further honors by receiving the Best Guitarist award. The band also contributed 2 songs to the Vancouver Seeds XI CD and appeared on the televised Demo Vision/Project Discovery. That same year, Deslauriers received further industry recognition for his song writing skills. He picked-up an award for best Rock/pop/alternative song in the 1996 Write-On Song Contest for the song "Thin Prayer" and another in the best blues-rock category for his song "Bye-Bye Baby".

Black Cat Bone's independently produced video for the song 'Mr. Fiction' was also a regular on Much Music's Indie Spotlight, thanks to numerous 'write-in' fan requests. Director Bruce Sweeny also used the song in the soundtrack for the film 'Dirty', featured at the 1998 Vancouver International Film Festival. Also, in 1995, the Godfather of blues himself, Bryan Lee, invited both Paul's to play on his then upcoming album 'Heat Seeking Missile'. They were even chosen to play as Bo Diddley's back-up band. Tragically, in December 1996, Black Cat Bone co-founder Paul Buonassisi suffered serious injuries in a near fatal car accident which left him unable to continue his work with the band. Paul Deslauriers has since toured with international acts like Garou, Amanda Marshall, Johnny Ferreira & the Swing Machine, France D'Amour, and currently fronts his own blues-rock power trio called the Paul Deslauriers Band and also has a very successful acoustic duo with Dawn Tyler Watson.

As for Black Cat Bone, although they did reunite in the summer of 2004 for a handful of shows, the band is not currently active nor touring. However, both albums have been re-issued under Deslauriers' own Big Toe Productions, commemorating each album's 10th anniversary. Robert Johnson and Clapton/Mayall fans will surely appreciate the covers like "Walking Blues", "Rambling On My Mind", and the totally re-arranged "Cross Road Blues".

The Paul Deslauriers Band was formed consisting of DesLauriers, winner of two Maple Blues Awards, guitar and vocals; Greg Morency, 2015 Maple Blues Award winner, bass; and Sam Harrison, a three-time Maple Blues Award nominee, drums. In 2014 their widely acclaimed self titled debut reached number one on the Canadian Blues Chart within the first month of being released. Then in January of 2016 The Paul DesLauriers Band took second place, in the band competition, at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

DesLauriers has long been thought of as a great guitarist and an able vocalist. It’s unusual however for a Blues rock trio to have a rhythm section like Morency and Harrisson and the trio has written and arranged all of their music together. The lyrics are from DesLauriers and his longtime writing partner Alec McElcheran. There is a definite chemistry that exists here.

Following up on the success of their self-titled album from 2014, The Paul DesLauriers Band returns with the aptly titled Relentless, a genuine blues-rock escapade featuring 10 new songs encompassing their most original and powerful work to date. Relentless indeed if you consider the pace at which the band has been working for the last two years with touring, writing and recording. The awards they keep racking up only confirm that hard work pays off. Adding to their multiple Maple Blues and Lys Blues awards and nominations they had a number one album on the iTunes Canada Blues Chart and in January 2016 they took home 2nd Place among 119 competing bands from around the world at the 32nd annual International Blues Challenge, held by the Blues Foundation in Memphis. Hot on the heels of that win they returned to Montreal to complete writing and recording Relentless and the result captures the very essence of The Paul DesLauriers Band.

A true collaborative effort on every front, singer-guitarist Paul DesLauriers, bassist Greg Morency and drummer Sam Harrisson approached this recording the same way they have in the past, three men playing together in the same room, capturing performances live off the floor; and this time they applied that philosophy to the whole creative process, writing and arranging all the music together from the ground up. Lyrics were penned by DesLauriers and long-time collaborator Alec McElcheran. Each member a virtuoso in his own right, what sets this power trio apart is their chemistry and uncanny musical interaction. Through the driving riffs on “Stewtro Rock (Just Got Back)” and “Ten Feet Tall”, the swampy grooves of “I’m Your Man” and “Still Under My Skin” and the heavy blues of “If I Still Had You”, you sense the power, the intention and most of all the unique sound these three have created. Heaviness is interspersed with funk, fun and cheeky double-entendre in tracks like “Gonna Make You Move (Part 1)” and “We Just Might”, the complexities of relationships and a life of chasing the muse are discussed candidly in numbers such as “Wipes Away Your Sin” and “Up In The Air”. Through every track, the personalities shine through, but what is most striking is the unity and the maturity radiating from this trio at the top of their game.

If the last album, 2014’s award-winning self-titled release, solidified the band’s stance in the Canadian blues scene, this album as well as their remarkable achievements over the last two years cements their position as one of the top Canadian blues-rock acts and and will maximize their influence on the international stage.
