The Hi-Stakes is a hyperactive hyped hip rhythm ‘n’ blues band based in Amsterdam. Original tunes, with lyrics full of irony and passion, played authentically from a vast range of popular genres of the time, be it a Blue Note Records’ boogaloo or an explosive old school rhythm ‘n blues number - in other words, their repertoire (entirely original) covers anything in between the jazz and the blues worlds.

Sam Ghezzi – singer, tenor saxophone blower and harmonica sucker – presents to you a blues album under his own name with Amsterdam-based musicians such as Dusty Ciggaar on guitar, Frank Groenendijk on baritone saxophone, Cesar Puente on double bass and Joe Korach on drums. The band revives a specific style of blues called “Chicago Blues”, an electric style that was played by musicians at rent parties and in the streets of Chicago Illinois in the 50’s, and “jump blues”, an up-tempo and swinging style with many influences from the jazz of the 40’s.
