Six months, 28 musicians, and 17 songs ago the Blues Society of Central PA, Deep Water Recording and Splash Records embarked on a journey to find and document original blues music. They didn’t have to go far. They found great songs, great players and now a great recording-right in their own back yard.

All of the musicians and bands on this recording live, work and/or perform in the south central PA region. Each week one can find them traveling the roads between Harrisburg, PA and Baltimore, MD or Washington DC or between Chambersburg, PA and Frederick, MD or Lancaster, PA. One can find them in small, hard to find juke joints or on bigger stages at blues festivals or concert halls. Now you can find them on this recording offering many styles of blues.

Often folks travel many miles and spend lots of cash to hear great blues, but then, never hear the blues “in their own backyard”. This CD hopes to prove that great live blues can be found in anyone’s backyard. This recording demonstrates that the blues artists in south central PA can hold their own with anyone nationally and deserve to be recognized as a force that preserves, teaches, and carries on the blues tradition.

Nate Myers & The Aces aptly titled 'Persist' is finally here... we endured quite a few setbacks getting this thing made, from personnel changes to theft of our gear and most everything you can think of in between! We're really happy with this new effort and think it's some of our best stuff to-date.

Nate Myers began his musical journey as many young harmonica up-n'comers do, listening to and figuring out the classic blues lines of well-known blues greats such as Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, and Junior Wells and modern players like William Clarke and James Harman. Eventually going beyond the mere ability to capture a favorite line or lick, he began to forge his own unique voice on his instrument and in his writing and singing. Non-stop gigging and composing led Nate down a different path though than most of his harmonica peers. It's a path that kept the blues at the heart of his playing, but then also embraced an open-ear policy of incorporating other musical influences such as country, hip-hop, southern trash-rock and psychobilly sensibilities.

Nate is that rare kind of improviser that can take you to places musically you were not expecting to arrive at but were glad you hitched your ear and attention to the ride. He's always reaching, never satisfied with where he is at musically and is always growing. With his unique charisma and talent he will capture your attention and win over even the most die-hard of music lovers! Nate has been billed with and shared the stage with many national and regional artists such as Kansas, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, G Love & Special Sauce, Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Kim Simmonds/Savoy Brown, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, Big Jack Johnson, Jason Ricci, Steve Guyger, Dennis Gruenling, E.G. Kight, The Nighthawks, Bruce Katz, Billy Price, Carey Bell, Ben Andrews, Robin Trower, Rod Piazza, Luther Allison, E.C. Scott, Chris Thomas King, Michael Burks, Paul Rishell & Little Annie and many others.
