Being a professional musician ever since and living in Europe for the last twenty years, James 'Alabama' Campbell can be recognised as "the best kept sectret" within the blues world. Mostly playing the piano at hotel bars or at dinner parties it wasn't until 1994 when he was engaged on several festivals in Germany that the blues community became aware of him.
Recorded in a pub, this album captures the feeling of the old days in blues when Champion Jack Dupree, Little Brother Montgomery and Sunnyland Slim started playing in a similar situation. As nowadays the blues becoming a guitar-dominated artform, with an endless line of new guitar-heroes coming out each week, CMA is proud to present to you the debut of one of the last real piano bluesmen alive.
