Vocalist and guitar player Roger Hubbard from Brighton, Sussex (UK) started in the mid 1960s with playing blues. He gained a reputation as an authentic and precocious player of the Delta blues. But he also played with Tony McPee, Alexis Korner, Sam Mitchell, Dave Kelly and Jo Ann Kelly. In 1970 he recorded "Brighton Belle Blues" for Blue Goose. In the early 1980s Hubbard became disillusioned with a declining English music scene and quit performing professionally. In 1985, Hubbard started playing again with other Sussex based musicians. With the arrival of Colin Gibson and Liam Genockey, he formed in 1989 a trio Buick 6. They played a sophisticated form of music that was country blues based with pleasing elements of folk. Although their first album was very successful, the band’s members all had busy careers and this meant that Buick 6 (named after a Bob Dylan song) was never really a full-time entity. They continued to play together when opportunities and conflicting schedules allowed.
