Arkansas native and San Antonio based artist-composer, Mark Searcy Middleton, has a diverse musical background and interests. He picked up the guitar for a brief five year stint at age fourteen, put it down for fifteen years to raise a family, and picked it up again after a work related accident severely damaged several fingers, as a form of rehabilitation, and soon immersed himself in the early pre-war acoustic blues of the 1920s and 30s. During that time, the solo acoustic guitar recording of Blind Man's Blues earned Searcy his first nomination as Musician of the Year at the 2007 Texas Music Awards. After several years of solo performance, he teamed with harmonica ace Rick Boss and the singing talents of Kori Hubbard to form the Mark Searcy Band, while producing two studio recordings (Wild Night in Texas and Roadworthy), and performing routinely with the Texas Hill Country legend and songwriter, Graham Warwick and the Sensational Bonafide Blues Band, and later singing dynamo, Ginger Pickett. More recently, Searcy's passion has turned to original instrumental compositions combining blues, jazz, and rock influences in further defining his own unique musical voice, which culminated in the release of "Hazepipe", which earned Searcy "Musician of the Year" award in 2014.
Mark has performed on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, including multiple performances at the International Blues Challenge; Club Ebony, the oldest juke joint in Mississippi; the Historic Victory Grill, the oldest blues club in Austin, Texas; and Telluride Colorado as a Top 5 national finalist in the nationwide Acoustic Blues Challenge. Mark is a 3 time Texas Music Awards nominee and named the TMA "Musician of the Year" in 2014.
