I have been described as singing "dirty girl" blues songs... (Irma Thomas's Hip Shakin' Mama is my theme song.) I'm inspired by blues from the 20s through the 60s, by both women and songs by men that can be well interpreted by a woman. Blues is full of double entendre and innuendo, is intelligent, sensual and fun. If it makes my hips move and shake, I usually want to sing it.
