Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats is a versatile and dynamic band that plays classic Big Band Swing, Blues, Jump Blues, 40s and 50s Classics, Boogie Woogie, Western Swing, Rockabilly, Oldies, Surf tunes and originals. The band has been in existence since 1992 and has released four critically acclaimed CDs. Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats are a group of talented and energetic musicians dedicated to keeping traditional roots music alive.
Lead singer, Flattop Tom, is also a professional swing dancer. He prides himself with keeping tempos right for dancers. Where DVD players are available, Flattop’s extensive collection of vintage swing dance videos provides additional visual stimuli, excitement, and dance inspiration for its audiences. The band’s first album release, “Jumping Blues For Your Dancing Shoes,” received critical acclaim and airplay on local radio stations. Their second release, “Rockin’ and Jumpin’ The Blues,” propelled the band to national airplay and worldwide travel. Their third release, “Swing Dance Party,” had national and European distribution and airplay, and received praise from critics.
“Don’t Cheat The Feet,” their fourth and most current release has had national and European distribution, received international airplay and was rated #19 on the Living Blues Radio Charts. In addition to headlining their own shows, Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats have performed with other top music artists including The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue, William Clarke, Charlie Musselwhite, Rod Piazza, Big Sandy, Big Jay McNeely, Jan & Dean and others. In addition, the band has appeared at many popular swing and blues venues in California and across the nation.
