Shaun Murphy is an American blues and R&B singer-songwriter known for her powerhouse singing style.
As a band lead singer and session singer, she has worked with Little Feat, Bob Seger, Meatloaf, Eric Clapton the Moody Blues, Herbie Hancock, Phil Collins, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Maria Muldaur, Bruce Hornsby, Michael Bolton, Coco Montoya, and Alice Cooper.
Shaun stepped onto the Blues stage in 1969 at the first Ann Arbor Blues Fest, beginning her storied career in the Detroit music scene. Appearing as a cast member of Hair along with Meatloaf, lead to Stoney and Meatloaf, their duo album on Motown Records.
As Stoney, Shaun recorded Katmandu with Bob Seger, continued working with him, and performing live on tour. She recorded on Eric Clapton’s Behind the Sun, joining his band for the tour and Live Aid.
From 1993 to 2009, Shaun joined Little Feat as a full-time member, sharing lead vocals and writing with Bill Payne and Paul Barrere.
In September 2009 the Shaun Murphy Band released Livin’ The Blues, followed by The Trouble With Lovin’ (2010), Shaun Murphy Live at Callahan’s Music Hall (2011), Ask For The Moon (2012) Winning two Blues Blast music awards for, Cry Of Love (2013), Loretta (2015). Mighty Gates (2017), Won’t Stop Raining (2018), Reason To Try (2019), Flame Still Burns (2021), I’m Coming Home (2023) and her newest album Brand New Blues available in 2026.
