The West Side Blues Band have evolved through a few band names and lineups over the years, starting out as the Rhythm Kings, morphing into the Continentals when we got fed up of people asking "wheres Bill?" even though we had the name first :-). Then finaly evolving into the current lineup which concentrates on the sound of the blues from the west side of Chicago, hence the name.

The core throughout has been the combination of Andy Broad on guitar / vocals and Tim Nowell on bass, now joined by Barry Leaney on Harmonica and Tim Peters on Drums.

I don't believe that the reference to the Westside Blues Band are relevant to this album.

For correct details of this album refer to this link

Thanks for posting this nice album Tonka. However, as Andrew already has pointed out the description is for an American band. This is a German band (just Westside Blues, without "Band") and I Believe they have taken the name after the venue where they serve as a kind of house band. I have translated some info from their website in case anyone is interested:

Together with guitarist Andreas Arlt, vocalist and harmonica player Martin Bohl formed the band Westside Blues exclusively for the venue (in Hamburg, Germany) with the same name.

Martin Bohl is touring through Europe with his band The Chargers, and also as a partner of Abi Wallenstein. With the album "Hyper Charged!", The Chargers was voted for second place in the critics award "Best German Blues Publication 2004". In 2006, they recieved the award for the album "A Hard Night's Day" which the Chargers recorded under the pseudonym The LowFi Kings together with the Austrian singer and guitarist Oliver Mally.

Andreas Arlt's band B.B. & The Blues Shacks has been awarded as Europe's best blues band multiple times, and they have been the keepers of traditional blues and soul for many years. In May 2008, they also managed the leap across the pond to attend at the prestigious Doheny Blues Festival in Los Angeles. Their tenth album "Unique Taste" received the 2008 "Prize of the German Record Critics' Award". In 2004 Andreas Arlt was awarded the "Trophee French Blues" as "Best European Guitar Player".

Dirk Vollbrecht (electric and double bass) was from 2003 to 2008 a member of the Chargers and worked on the CD-productions with the above. He currently plays traditional acoustic blues as a partner of Peter Crow C.

Jochen Reich (drums) is active with percussion studies in Utrecht (NL) in various jazz and blues bands. Even Reich was involved in the production of the album "A Hard Night's Day".

Musicians:
Martin Bohl - vocals, harp
Andreas Arlt - guitar
Dirk Vollbrecht - bass
Jochen Reich - drums
Dennis Koeckstadt - piano
Thomas Feldmann - sax
Erkan Özdemir - sax
