These ten tracks feature as many female blues singers, but only six fit the genre. Angela Strehlt displays vocal prowess on "Two Bit Texas Town," which makes you feel like you're in a smoky bar downing boilermakers. "Girlfriend Says" by Michelle Wilson is upbeat and lively, Irma Thomas delivers tasteful, slow blues on "I'll Take Care of You," and Brenda Boykin serves up a slice of vintage '50s jump blues with "No! I Ain't Gonna Let You Go." However, four miscues taint the CD: Ann Peeples' "Fear No Evil" and Miki Honeycutt's "Come with Me" have more to do with R&B than blues; Deanna Bogart's "My Blue Mood" owes more to old-school jazz than blues; and Rory Block's "God's Gift to Woman" is interesting but has nothing to do with blues. /Andrew Hamilton, AllMusic
