Gary Rex Tanner writes, sings, records and produces music on his own terms just outside the established parameters of the commercial music business. Not clearly definable in contemporary terms, it only takes a few minutes of hearing his music to discern where he is coming from, for most people. His music, transcending genres, clearly allows the listener to share the experience being felt by the performer and make it the listener’s own. If you like straightforward music with wry humor, deep feeling, catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics, try a couple of Tanner’s tunes and see if you agree. Tanner’s latest endeavor is a biographical book about his father, with an accompanying CD entitled “The Oklahoma Gamblin’ Man” He has produced six originals albums, whose songs have been covered by various artist in various genres. Originally from Modesto California now live in San Diego with his wife Daisy. Gary Rex Tanner has written songs for mainstream artists such as country singers Don Williams, Del Reeves, Henson Cargill and blues artists Corey Stevens and Saffire 'the uppity blues women.' His four commercial albums, co-produced by his pal Mississippi Slim, highlight his versatility as a singer/songwriter/producer.
