Marking his return to the heavier Gibson/Marshall sound after 25 years as a Fender bluesman, Janey leads his veteran four piece blues band through hills and valleys of expansive sound on this powerfully electric album. Janey's versatility on the guitar is notably impressive, but his ability to steer the players in directions without forcibly overshadowing them may be his greatest strength. Leaving room for the bass, keys, and drums to shine on their own, he allows his band mates space to move and groove, and they take full advantage. This solid backup gives him more than enough fuel to deliver some striking solos that interface with the organ to create a sound that is multi-tiered and ambitious, without resorting to thinly veiled noodling.

The lyrics wisely follow the music down the same path, staying true to the blues form, but getting effectively modern in their content and melody. This is blues with both feel and calculation, and it takes some wise and talented players to pull that off. This is a band that is up for the task, and they deliver the goods with rock and rhythm to spare.

Sharrie Williams grew up in the Daniel Heights Projects of Saginaw, Michigan, United States. She began singing in the church choir at the age of six, and by the time she was 12 she had begun touring and recording with the Greater Williams Temple church choir. Under the choir directorship of Hubert J. Williams, Williams performed and recorded with Shirley Caesar, The Winans, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and the Reverend James Cleveland. In 1993, she toured with Snap Productions in a presentation of Michael Matthews’ gospel stage production, I Need A Man. In 1996, she began singing with the house band at a club in Saginaw named Wise Guys. That house band quickly evolved into Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys, and she met and later married the owner of Wise Guys, Norman "Pops" Crawford in 1998.

Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys began appearing regularly at renowned Chicago blues clubs The Kingston Mines and Buddy Guy's Legends. 1998 saw Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys on their way to Europe, starting with performances in Germany. Williams released her first CD in 2001 under her own Faith Records label, Sharrie Williams Live at Wise Guys. The live recording caught the attention of the Detroit Music Awards Committee, which earned her a nomination for their Best Blues Album of the Year award. By the end of 2003, Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys had successfully toured France, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and Great Britain.

In April 2004, Williams released Hard Drivin’ Woman on the German label, Crosscut Records. Williams followed up with Live at Bay-Car (2007), recorded live at the festival in Grande Synthe, France also on the Crosscut label. Studio albums I'm Here to Stay (2007), and Out of the Dark (2011), were released on the Canadian Electro-Fi Records label. Out of the Dark went on to win Blues Album of the Year Award from the Académie du Jazz. Williams was nominated for a Blues Music Award in the 'Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year' category in 2012 and in 2009, and was nominated for a Blues Music Award in the 'Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year' category in 2008. JAZZed magazine named Sharrie Williams the top 'World Artist' for 2014.

Williams has collaborated and appeared with Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown, Mavis Staples, Van Morrison, Dizzy Gillespie, Otis Clay, Larry McCray, Sugar Blue, Bobby Bland, Walter Trout, and Johnnie Taylor. Joe Bonamassa’s New Live Album Tales of Time will be released by J&R Adventures and Provogue/Mascot Label Group on April 14, 2023. The album was recorded in its entirety over two nights at Colorado’s “Red Rocks Amphitheater” and is available as a CD/DVD, CD/Blu-Ray and a 3LP 180 gram Vinyl album set. Bonamassa performed his most recent 2021album Time Clocks in its entirety along with a half dozen older numbers like “Dust Bowl” and “Mountain Time,” and others for the DVD and Vinyl album. The CD contains ten cuts but like the DVD and vinyl “Pilgrimage” and “Hanging on a Loser” from Time Clocks are replaced with “Just ‘Cos You Can Don’t Mean You Should” and “Evil Mama.”

The band is Bonamassa’s most recent touring band comprised of Reese Wynans – Keyboards, Mahalia Barnes – Vocals and Percussion, Lemar Carter – Drums and Percussion, Calvin Turner – Bass Guitar, Jade MacRae – Vocals and Percussion, Dannielle DeAndrea – Vocals and Percussion as well as Josh Smith – Guitar. There is a short 55 second intro titled “Dawn of Time” prior to the opening cut “Notches” which is nearly nine minutes long and was co-written with Kevin Shirley and Charlie Starr from “Blackberry Smoke. It kicks the show off with a barnburner from driving drums to screaming guitar peals.

“The Heart That Never Waits” follows and is a bluesy excursion that is reminiscent of Stevie Ray and was co-written with James House. “Curtain Call” is another lengthy hard driving cut with excellent cinematography recording the performance. In 2022 a video was released of “Mind’s Eye” which was co-written with James House and contains more of the album’s stellar guitar work.

Once again a video of “Questions And Answers” was released in 2022 before the current project. It was co-written by James House and Kevin Shirley with a repetitive beat and almost Latin sound between guitar peals. “The Loyal Kind” was co-written with Bernie Marsden and has a hard rock sound. A video of “Known Unknowns” was released in 2023 that was an excerpt from the DVD recorded at “Red Rocks” as an advance sample from the entire project that was co-written by Bonamassa and Alyssa Bonagura. “Time Clocks” was the title track from the 2021 album and co-written by Bonamassa and Kevin Shirley as an exercise in pushing the envelope. “Just ‘Cos You Can Don’t Mean You Should” gives Wynans a chance to shine before Bonamassa shreds his fret board to a driving beat. The last cut on the CD is “Evil Mama” another co-write with Tom Hambridge and Shirley that is a jam to high heaven followed by Bonamassa’s scalding pyrotechnic guitar peals.

As already mentioned the DVD and vinyl had a half dozen additional cuts ranging from the short intro and conclusion to standards like “Mountain Time,” “Dust Bowl,” “The Ballad of John Henry” and a cover of Gary Moore’s “Midnight Blues.” After attending a thousand live shows over the past 60 years I’ve learned to appreciate ambience but with the pandemic came live internet concerts. No matter how well it is filmed and the sound is reproduced, watching a show from a screen will never hold a candle to the live show. However, this is as good as it gets if you couldn’t be there, like “Woodstock.” ~Bob Gersztyn

Austin, Texas-based guitarist and singer/songwriter Omar Kent Dykes fits the stereotypical image some have of an American blues musician: he's tall, wears cowboy boots, and has a deep voice with a Southern accent. But although Dykes looks rough and tough, he's actually an incredibly peaceful and intelligent musician, and a veteran at working a crowd in a blues club or a festival. While Dykes has a sizable American audience owing to his albums for Columbia Records, he has spent a good portion of his touring years at festivals and clubs around Europe.

Omar Kent Dykes was born in 1950, in McComb, Mississippi, the same town from which Bo Diddley hailed. He first set foot into neighborhood juke joints at age 12 and after he'd been playing guitar for a while, he went back into the juke joints. After graduating from high school, Dykes lived in Hattiesburg and Jackson, Mississippi for a few years before relocating to Austin in 1976. He'd heard the blues scene in Texas was heating up. At that time, Stevie Ray Vaughan was still playing with Paul Ray & the Cobras. By the early '80s, Omar & the Howlers had gained a solid reputation for their invigorating live shows. They also released two albums on independent labels, Big Leg Beat (1980), followed four years later by I Told You So.

Dykes was truly one of a kind, a fact Columbia Records recognized in the mid-'80s when they signed Omar & the Howlers. Unfortunately, it was a fleeting relationship at best. After releasing Hard Times in the Land of Plenty (1987) and Wall of Pride (1988), the band was dropped when the company was bought by Sony. While it was inconvenient, it didn't stop Dykes, and his output continued to be nothing short of extraordinary. Starting in 1991, Omar & the Howlers recorded three discs for Rounder/Bullseye Blues: Live at Paradiso (1991), followed by Blues Bag and Courts of Lulu (both in 1992). In 1995, they switched to the Austin-based Watermelon Records and released Muddy Springs Road (1995), World Wide Open (1996), and Southern Style (1997).

After 15 years of dealing with record contracts, Dykes needed a break from being tied down to one particular label for any length of time. Since then, he and the Howlers have released excellent discs on Discovery (a 1997 reissue of 1990's Monkey Land), Black Top (1999's Swing Land), Blind Pig (2002's Big Delta), and Ruf Records (2004's Boogie Man). John Sebastian (born John Benson Sebastian on 17 March 1944, in Greenwich Village, New York City) is an American songwriter and harmonica player. He is best known as a founder of The Lovin' Spoonful, a band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. His tie-dyed denim jacket is prominently displayed there.

Early in their recording and airwave career, Lovin' Spoonful members termed their approach "good-time music". Unlike many pop groups of the day, the Lovin' Spoonful played all the instruments on their records, and aside from a few covers, wrote all their own material.

His group The Lovin' Spoonful played a major role in the mid-'60s rock revolution, but what leader, singer and songwriter Sebastian had in mind was actually a counter-revolution. "We were grateful to the Beatles for reminding us our rock & roll roots," John explains, "but we wanted to cut out the English middlemen, so to speak, and get down to making this new music as an 'American' band."

This the Lovin' Spoonful did like nobody before or since, putting their first seven singles into the Top 10. This was unprecedented, and utterly unthinkable at the height of Beatlemania. At first they'd taken older material from blues, country, folk and jug band sources - what we now term "roots music" - and made it sound modern. Then, in a series of original songs composed and sung by John Sebastian, they did the reverse, creating thoroughly modern music that sounded like it contained the entire history of American music. Which it did.

He embarked on a moderately successful solo career after leaving the Lovin' Spoonful in 1968. Sebastian was popular among the rock festival circuits. He had a memorable, albeit unscheduled appearance at Woodstock, appearing after Country Joe McDonald's set, playing songs such as "I Had A Dream," "Rainbows All Over Your Blues" and "Younger Generation" which he dedicated to a newborn baby at the festival. Documentary remarks by festival organizers revealed that Sebastian was under the influence at the time, hence his spontaneity and casual, unplanned set. Sebastian also returned for Woodstock '94, playing harmonica for Crosby, Stills and Nash. Sebastian released his eponymous LP John B. Sebastian in 1970, which featured him accompanied by various L.A. musicians.

Sebastian played harmonica with The Doors on the song Roadhouse Blues under the pseudonym G. Puglese to avoid problems with his contract, which was featured on Morrison Hotel album, also played on "Little Red Rooster" on the live album Alive, She Cried and on seven songs on Live In Detroit. He is also credited with playing harmonica on Crosby Stills Nash & Young's "Déjà Vu" from the album of the same name.

He had been involved in music for films (most notably Francis Ford Coppola's "You're A Big Boy Now" and Woody Allen's "What's Up Tiger Lily") and Broadway, but when producers of a TV show called "Welcome Back Kotter" commissioned a theme song in 1976, Sebastian's "Welcome Back" became a chart-topping solo record.

Thankfully John's induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 hasn't slowed him down. Whether the stage is at Carnegie Hall or a folk festival in some far-flung locale, John is still out there spreading his gospel of American roots music. He is the subject of the current PBS special "Do You Believe In Magic: The Music of John Sebastian," and a new album of duets with David Grisman was released in 2007. He has also lent his music in support of social, environmental and animal rights causes. Recently he joined a delegation of songwriters (including Lamont Dozier, Allen and Marilyn Bergman, and Mike Stoller) in Washington, DC to campaign on behalf of the National Music Publisher's Association.

Perhaps because it has been the product of heart and soul and history, the oldest song in the Sebastian catalog is as fresh and vital as the song he's about to write tomorrow. That's why you still hear his music everywhere - in movies, on television, in cover versions and samples - and why it's always welcome. John is also a welcome media presence; his commentary, insights and anecdotes and stories are regularly featured in print, radio, TV and film documentary projects. John Sebastian is not only a master musician, writer and performer, he remains one of the best ambassadors American music has ever had.

The band is rock solid! Songs by Dion, FabThunderbirds, Ray Charles, Allman Brothers, Muddy Waters to name a few. But also the roots, the traditionals are not forgotten! And all of that is brought with that unique Bluesix sound. Memorable performances where the musicians go crazy over the bar, in the hall and on the back of the audience are countless. WAMI Nominated Wisconsin Duo. If the White stripes, The black keys, and Left lane cruiser had an illegitimate love child with Lemmy while Hunter S. Thompson documented the whole torrid thing...you might get 20 Watt Tombstone. In the short time the Wisconsin Duo has been playing, they have drawn an unreal amount of attention. Their brand of brash and chaotic alt. blues rock mixed with country and punk blends into a sometimes comedic monster that cannot be easily pinned down, and at times seems so over the top it cant be serious.

This is a very full disc (23 songs) of BBC sessions recorded by the band in the 1960s, all but six of them by the prime Spencer Davis Group lineup featuring Stevie Winwood. It's a bit disappointing that all but one of those 17 tracks with Winwood on board have been previously available in studio versions, and even the one that wasn't (the blues cover "Oh! Pretty Woman") had already been issued on the Eight Gigs a Week compilation of early Davis recordings. Still, it's a good solid selection, heavy on the R&B covers that made up the bulk of their early repertoire, such as "Dimples," "Watch Your Step," "I Can't Stand It," and "Mean Woman Blues." In fact, there's not much in the way of non-covers, though renditions of the big hits "Keep on Running," "I'm a Man," and "Gimme Some Lovin'" are here ("Somebody Help Me," oddly, is not).

The performances are not much different than the studio versions; sometimes there may be a sense of less inhibition, but on the other hand, "I'm a Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin'" are definitely inferior to the denser arrangements heard on the classic singles. As for the six 1967-1968 songs sans Winwood that conclude the disc, they are naturally of not as much interest as the preceding part of the program. Yet they're not dispensable either, as the band plowed on with a somewhat heavier, more soul-psychedelic-oriented sound, emphasizing original material penned by Davis and newcomer Eddie Hardin. One problem with many of the top British R&B bands of the mid-'60s is the absence of full-length concert documents of their work. The Yardbirds were lucky enough to leave behind Five Live Yardbirds, and the Animals had In the Beginning in the can, but most other acts from the Rolling Stones on down usually left us just a handful of tracks, if that. This 14-song CD fills an essential gap in the Spencer Davis Group's output, offering a baker's dozen live cuts from various stages featuring the band's classic lineup (plus a single concert track from their post-Steve Winwood incarnation), and every track here is essential listening.

The four 1965-vintage cuts, apparently from a rehearsal at the Marquee Club, sound as good as any live rock recording of the decade and are highlighted by the best single track that Winwood ever left behind with the group, an early version of Stevie's Blues that features him scatting away in utterly unpretentious manner, which is followed by a driving version of It's Gonna Work Out Fine; then jump to the German television show Beat Club in 1966, and pounding renditions of Keep on Running, Sittin' & Thinkin', and Somebody Help Me - these are a bit on the lo-fi side, but there's no leakage on the instrument sound and one can cope with the slightly boomy ambience. The Finnish television appearance from later the same year also has a few sonic limitations but nothing impossible to deal with, and even the post-Winwood era version of Dust My Broom from the Empire Pool at Wembley in early 1968, featuring Ray Fenwick on lead guitar, proves well worth hearing.

All show the group stretching out a bit on their established repertory and turning the instruments up higher than they would have in recording - although it's interesting to note that, after the 1965 tracks on this disc (which predate the release of their first album by about a month), the evidence here shows that the band succeeded, better than most British R&B-based groups of the period, in capturing their live sound in the studio. This disc is a perfect compliment to the Polygram UK double-CD Spencer Davis Group anthology, although it can also stand on its own as a live best-of or an introduction to the group or to Steve Winwood's early career. /Bruce Eder, AllMusic

The SlideWinder Blues Band hits hard with its own brand of Texas and Chicago driven contemporary blues. For those times when the 1, 4, 5 just isn't enough, the bands red blooded live shows are full of vigor and offer a sonic pallet indicative of the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans.

Hailing from Doylestown, PA, a suburban town just north of Philadelphia, SlideWinder is comprised of several regulars of “The Every Thursday Funk n’ Blues Jam”, a weekly open blues jam originally born within the venue walls of Puck Live in Doylestown and continues to this day at Havana New Hope in New Hope, PA on Thursday evenings.

Now in its seventh year, SlideWinder isn’t just a band, it’s a community. Inductees of The PA Blues Hall of Fame, winner of the Bucks Happening List for two consecutive years for best band category, charting positions at international radio with their debut record, all position SlideWinder to expand it's aural footprint. Most recently, a bluesy re-do of the 1961 hit “A Little Bit of Soap” dropped in May of 2021 and peaked at #3 on the RMR Blues Radio Chart. The bands sophomore effort is scheduled for release Feb 24, 2023.

SWBB has on more than one occasion supported Sonny Landreth, Marcia Ball and others. The band has ignited multiple music festivals including MusikFest, Blast Furnace Blues Festival, and the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Festival.

The core members of the band include founder Paul Boddy on lead vocal and guitars. Organ and piano are delivered ardently by Glenn “The Wizard” Hale. Foundational density is laid down by bass-man Chuck Hearne, and the skins are relentlessly finessed by Dave Hollingsworth.

The band’s first release, “Over the Hump” is a humorous tale of an aging body playing host to the thoughts of a younger mind. Follow-up tracks include "Love Me Darlin" which is unabashedly about the come-hear go-away dynamic of troubled relationships. “Money on Love” depicts a young man blowing his weekly paycheck in bars as he looks for love. “Knock my Boots” is not only a play on words, but a line drawn in the sand about a mans prized pair of cowboy boots. Pretty Kitty is a humorous story of a woman's pet and chock full of innuendo. The bands first entry into ballad territory is “Makin’ Me Cry” which features Paul's emotionally charged vocal performance and patiently potent slide work, along with Glenn's soulful organ wizzardry. Several great Bucks County blues musicians appear on this collaboration of appreciable songs written by Boddy and co-produced by multi Grammy Award recipient Joe “The Butcher” Nicolo.

SlideWinder is not a band of rookies. Growing up Boddy recalls listening to his Grandmother sing the Blues in London clubs and family gatherings, Bar-B-Q’s with The Bay City Rollers and watching his Uncle John’s band rehearse on Saturday mornings in his Father’s London warehouse. The guitar player in his Uncle’s band went on to join Judas Priest. Boddy’s Uncle John now enjoys a life in Spain as a Neil Diamond tribute act. Boddy’s father was in business with Mark Stevens of The Dovells (The Bristol Stomp) and the late Don Kirshner (Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert). In 1999 Boddy Founded Cayman Records and produced Bob Lowery’s Yellow Light Album. After forty plus years of performing and playing along to Freddie King and Duane Allman records, writing and recording music in multiple genres, and forming the SWBB, this music-man remains true to what he first heard as music. A true champion of the Blues and a guitar slinger at heart.

Hale has been playing music on both coasts for 50 years. Uncle to Lzzy and Arejay Hale of Halestorm, Glenn brings a Jon Lord-esque baroque and rock edge to the band as he expands upon the licks of Jimmy Smith, Billy Preston & Dr. John. In 1968, Hale’s band The Generation won best band in Bucks County. In 2018, only half a century later, he enjoys the same accolade with SlideWinder.

Hearne has been holding bottom for nearly fifty years with some of the best in Blues and Rock. Of note, a tour of Europe with the Todd Wolfe Band (Guitar, Sheryl Crow). Nearly twenty years with the Flamin’ Harry Blues Band kept him local while he also held court with the Craig Thatcher Band. The highlight of his musical jaunt to date was playing bass on Leslie West’s Mystic Fire studio album. Chuck joined SlideWinder in June of 2018.

Hollinsworth has been playing drums since he can remember. He has toured the globe with Todd Wolfe, played with Leslie West and Geoffrey Whitehorn of Procol Harum. Hollingsworth has sat behind Dickey Betts, John Mayall and Andy Powell from Wishbone Ash. Recipient of best drummer in the Lehigh Valley multiple times. Hollingsworth joined SlideWinder in 2019.

Together these outstanding players make up what is known as The SlideWinder Blues Band, which is blatantly greater than the sum of it's parts.

Billylee Janey has been compared to such greats as Clapton, Beck, and Hendrix. Even though these guitar heroes have been an inspiration to him, Billylee’s own soulful and passionate love for music clearly and creatively sets him apart, giving him his own unique style and personality. Billylee picked up his first guitar, a German Framus, at an early age. it was during the “British Invasion” that he was taking his first steps in another direction; a direction that would lead him down paths into the music that would shape his future – the blues, jazz and rock. Billylee recorded his first record in 1972 and another in 1973 which included “Pontiac Blues” by Sonny Boy Williamson. In 1975 he recorded a full scale album titled “No Rest for the Wicked” with his bluesy hard rock trio, TRUTH AND JANEY. “No Rest for the Wicked” has achieved near cult status internationally, and has been recognized in the book by Martin Popoff “The Collector’s Guide to Heavy Metal Volume I: The Seventies” and the Acid Archives Book among others.

Recently, Janey received nominations by the Iowa Rock and Roll, and Blue’s Halls of Fame. Also, in 2000, Billylee received a Grammy entry mention. Billylee Janey as played B B KINGS IN MEMPHIS, BUDDY GUYS’ LEGENDS DURING THE CHICAGO BLUES FEST and the MISS. VALLY BLUES FEST. He has worked over 600 major shows in the USA and Canada. Other accomplishments; Head Flyman for David Copperfield, where Janey incorporated guitar stunts and tricks in his live show. Janey worked in theaters for 15 years working on productions such as Chorus Line and 42nd St. he also worked the ABC Network’s farm crisis with the Donahue Show and over 600 arena shows for jazz, blues and pop rock including Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and George Thorogood. Janey was a part of production on the feature film “Miles From Home” starring Richard Gere. Janey played on stage with Buddy Guy, Little Ed and was the backing band for Bo Diddley shows in 2000.

Only recently has Snooky Pryor finally begun to receive full credit for the mammoth role he played in shaping the amplified Chicago blues harp sound during the postwar era. He's long claimed he was the first harpist to run his sound through a public address system around the Windy City -- and since nobody's around to refute the claim at this point, we'll have to accept it! James Edward Pryor was playing harmonica at the age of eight in Mississippi. The two Sonny Boys were influential to Pryor's emerging style, as he played around the Delta. He hit Chicago for the first time in 1940, later serving in the Army at nearby Fort Sheridan. Playing his harp through powerful Army PA systems gave Pryor the idea to acquire his own portable rig once he left the service. Armed with a primitive amp, he dazzled the folks on Maxwell Street in late 1945 with his massively amplified harp. Pryor made some groundbreaking 78s during the immediate postwar Chicago blues era. Teaming with guitarist Moody Jones, he waxed "Telephone Blues" and "Boogie" for Planet Records in 1948, encoring the next year with "Boogy Fool"/"Raisin' Sand" for JOB with Jones on bass and guitarist Baby Face Leroy Foster in support. Pryor made more classic sides for JOB (1952-1953), Parrot (1953), and Vee-Jay ("Someone to Love Me"/"Judgment Day") in 1956, but commercial success never materialized. He wound down his blues-playing in the early '60s, finally chucking it all and moving to downstate Ullin, IL, in 1967. For a long while, Pryor's whereabouts were unknown. But the 1987 Blind Pig album Snooky, produced by guitarist Steve Freund, announced to the world that the veteran harpist was alive and well, his chops still honed. A pair of solid discs for Antone's, Too Cool to Move and In This Mess Up to My Chest, followed. Pryor stayed busy until his death in 2006. ~Bill Dahl

A sparkling live recording of a Tokyo concert by Lindley, the wizard of anything with strings on it this side of a tennis racquet, and Naser, his Jordanian-American percussionist collaborator and neighbor.

It’s no great surprise that Lindley decided to release this himself rather than go hat in hand to any of the major labels, asking them to put out 11 songs and 70 minutes of music played on the Turkish saz , electric oud or Hawaiian slide guitars, accompanied only by an armload of Middle Eastern hand drums. But the music Lindley and Naser make is wondrous, melding elements of Middle-Eastern, African, Chinese, Indian, Celtic and Central European traditional music with American rock, folk, jazz, blues and R & B, all laced with Lindley’s loopy sense of humor.

Take his 11-minute treatment of Frizz Fuller and Richard Clark’s “Rag Bag.” It opens with a long, down-tempo Hawaiian guitar solo in which Lindley conjures images of some ancient Arabian town. After several minutes, Lindley dovetails into a brief, haunting melodic passage with roots in Stephen Foster, then shifts into high gear with a stinging slide blues over which he sings the lyrics: “The curb at my side, it is like home to me/Lying in the gutter, that’s the life for me . . . I don’t want to wash, I don’t want to shave, I don’t want to work like a (expletive) slave.”

It’s an unapologetic look at the down-and-out that says when you’re hungry and homeless, it’s no different if you’re in Baghdad or Buena Park. At the same time, it says there are worse things in life than not having a job or a roof over your head.

In other songs by Lindley, Clifton Chenier, Professor Longhair and Danny O’Keefe, Lindley celebrates those who have lost love, work, world wars and, above all, he toasts those who, like himself, long ago abandoned the silly notion of taking life seriously. ~Randy Lewis

Niki began his career at the tender age of three years old while playing piano with his mother and father. Seven years later (at the age of ten) he started playing drums and by the age of thirteen he won a contest sponsored by the godfather of soul James Brown.

During that peroid he performed as a support act with the Ike and Tina Turner review and other legendary bands such as Exile, Parliament Funkadelic and The GuessWho.

By the time he was 20 years old he could play 13 instruments in which his favorite was guitar. Which to this day is his primary instrument.

In 1975 Niki was very much on the scene in New York City when the legendary CBGB's was at the forefront of the punk music scene. Performing with artists as the Ramone's, Patti Smith, the Talking Heads, The Shirts and Mink Deville, he is one of the few artists that can boast that he was on the first "Live at CBGB'S" album as the lead singer for the group Sun featuring Bill Laswell on bass

After working with the legendary Giorgio Gomelsky, the owner of the Craw Daddy club (who discovered the Rolling Stones), he decided to start the band Vendetta. With that band he landed a record contract in 1982. The debut album "Vendetta" was the end result.

For the next two years he toured with the likes of Billy Squier, Foreigner, Joan Jett and numerous other rock acts.

In 1984 he started the legendary band M-80 (RoadRunner Label) with bass player Don Costa from The Ozzy Osborne Band.

After touring the United States and Europe for two years Niki embarked on a studio career where he met Curtis Knight (discoverer of Jimi Hendrix). He was the resident guitarist and drum computer programmer at Planet Studios in NYC for the likes of Anita Baker, Whitney Houston Chaka Kahnand Kid Creole and the Coconuts and The Village People.

Finishing four years of touring with Curtis Knight, The Niki Buzz Band and Pat Mears, he started the brand-new studio Helping Hands (March 1998) of which he is the sole owner, proprietor and engineer.

The studio already has numerous CD's to its credit: Tengeh Ascension 2021 (with reggae artists Max Edwards and Ione Oslinger), Siembras ( featuring Marco A. Carrera) and Jerome Lee's mini-CD Basically yours not to mention The Blues and Jazola the two latest CD's from Niki himself. Niki is considered one of the top producers in The Netherlands.

Along with being a masterful musician, Niki is also considered one of the top midi experts in the world. He has been working with midi for the last 35 years.

He is a beta tester for Scope Creamware and Native Instruments and was very instrumental in the beta testing for Guitar Rig.

In the fall of 1998 Niki traveled to New York where he was asked to perform on the soundtrack for the "The Personals"a documentary produced by Cinemax about the sex lives of the elderly in New York City. In March of 1999 that same film won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject.

Having moved to The Netherlands he started his own record label BlackDust Records and a production company entitled Sleez Midgits Productions.

In December 2004 Niki won "Best International Animation award" for the "New York Independent Film Festival" for an animation that he composed and wrote the screen play for entitled "Whiplash" which can be viewed at www.sleezmidgits.com


2005-2006: Niki played guitar for new and up coming artist on Def Jam and Universal Music Group

2007: Niki toured with Cee Will (drummer for Marianne Faithful). Niki toured with The Niki Buzz Band and also with “Play like Jimi”a Jimi Hendrix tribute band that features the music of Band of Gypsies. August 2007 Niki was inducted into the "Blues Hall of Fame

2013: Niki toured extensively in Poland in support of the new CD with “Dr. blues and Soul Revision” resulting in the winning of the Polish Grammy for best blues album 2013
2015: September 2015 Niki releases his new single and video “Play Lucille like B.B.King”

This will coincide with a tour of Asia including the country’s China, Japan, Indonesia. Cambodia Singapore and Vietnam.

A worthy representative of the vivacious Gascon scene (which also features Nico Wayne Toussaint, Jeff Zima, Raoul Ficel and Awek), Cadijo returns with one of those carefully distilled albums of which he has the secret. Always faithful to his land, one of the very best European harmonicists thus persists in celebrating his love of the blues and that of his vernacular language. As if François Béranger had tried his hand at the genre, the tasty mambo “Kinshasa Blues”, “Quelle Sale Journée”, “Tondre Le Gazon” and “Faut Pas Rêver” perpetuate the libertarian spirit that already ran through his “En Mop Dans Les Swamps” and “Les Chansons De Pierrot”. In the stylistic vein of the lazy swamp blues initiated by Jimmy Reed, Lightnin' Slim and Slim Harpo, the languid “J'T'Attendrai” undeniably imposes itself as one of the peaks of this disc. In terms of harmonica playing alone, this track could already serve as an anthology. In the same vein, “Elle Never Le Temps” and the zydeco “Y'A Pas Le Feu” join the verve of the great Benoît Blue Boy (initiatory apostle of the genre in the language of Voltaire). The titular track turns out to be the jubilant transposition into French of “That Ain't It” by Jimmy Rogers. The Chicago shuffle is having a field day, and in addition to Cadijo's ruined lips, his accomplices Baptiste Duperron on six strings and Fabrice Camelio (alias Hot Pepino) on 88 keys ride the rhythm with enthusiasm. Once not being custom, it is under the pen of his brother Michel that the poetic fiber of Jean-Pierre Carraro is expressed (true civil status of Cadijo, like Clark Kent for Superman), with the sensitive and touching “ The essential". The Blues, poetry and the harmonica take breathing for complicity. Like a salutary breath of oxygen, here is in a way the chiselled and relaxed album that Lazy Lester and Jean Ferrat could have recorded together, if they had had the luminous inspiration... ~Patrick Dlongville

Award-winning Canadian blues guitarist and singer/songwriter Matt Andersen is known as one of Canada's hardest-working musicians, averaging around 200 live performances per year. Specializing in an earthy blend of blue-collar folk, electric blues, and roots rock, the New Brunswick native began his musical career in 2002 with the group Flat Top. He issued his solo debut, Second Time Around, in 2007, followed in 2008 by Something in Between and in 2009 by Piggyback, the latter of which was a collaboration with acclaimed harmonica player Mike Stevens. That same year he issued his first concert album, Live from the Phoenix Theatre, and later his first collection of holiday music, Christmas Time. A pair of studio albums, Push Record (with Mike Stevens) and Coal Miner Blues, followed in 2011. The Steve Berlin-produced Weightless, his debut long-player for the True North label, arrived in 2014, earning Andersen a Juno nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year. For his follow-up, he traveled to New York, working with producer Commissioner Gordon (Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone) to record 2016's Honest Man. The concert album Live at Olympic Hall appeared in 2018, and featured Andersen backed by his band the Mellotones at the historic Halifax, Nova Scotia venue. ~James Christopher Monger

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Massachusetts, Chris credits both his parents for introducing him to blues, jazz, rhythm & blues and gospel music. At the early age of nine, he picked up his first guitar and discovered his passion. During the 1980’s, while majoring in art and music at the University of Massachusetts, Chris participated in jazz workshops with Archie Shepp, attended a summer session at Berklee School of Music and studied under guitar great Tony MacAlpine.

In 1990, Chris relocated to Los Angeles to further develop his musical career and in 2000, went back to his roots and formed what is known today as the Chris Bell Band. Having always been influenced by some of the great blues artists both past and present from BB King’s swingin’ old school style, to stinging single note passages like masters Albert King and Albert Collins, combined with searing slide riffs from Bell’s favorite, Johnny Winter and the psychedelic sounds reminiscent of the master Jimi Hendrix, Chris can do it all. His remarkable guitar playing compliments any blues genre he covers while paying tribute to those vintage styles his forefathers cast before him.

Chris now calls Las Vegas home and shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to tour throughout the Western United States with regular trips each year to Texas, the East Coast and Midwest and has performed and/or shared the stage with the likes of Mike Zito, Shemekia Copeland, Chris Duarte, Coco Montoya, Billy Branch, Tommy Castro, Robert Lockwood Jr., Leon Russell and Shane Dwight just to name a few. Make no mistake, Chris is establishing himself as one of the premier up and coming blues artists of this generation and has only begun to scratch the surface of what promises to be a long and prosperous career.

Jack DeKeyzer is a jack of many trades, skilled as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and even a producer. He has made a name for himself in the genres of rock and country, but his strongest ties are to blues. His professional musical career started in the '80s with a group called the Bopcats. After completing a couple of albums as a Bopcat, he moved on to the Rock Angels, and then finally went solo. Since breaking out on his own, DeKeyzer has won a number of awards, including Best Blues Album, Best Guitarist, Best Blues Recording, and many others. He has also been nominated for a Juno Award.

DeKeyzer was born in England. He discovered his love for music early and found that playing the guitar came easy. Over his long years in the music world, he has worked with various bands, done session guitar work for numerous artists, and started his own record label, Blue Star. His debut solo album, Hard Working Man, was released in 1991 by Warner Music. It took four years for his sophomore recording, Wild at Heart, to appear. He finished out the '90s with one more full-length offering, Down in the Groove. Some of the tunes on DeKeyzer's blues recordings are "The Way that I Love You," "I Need a Break," "High on Your Love," "Touch of the Blues," and "When Love Walks Out." /Biography by Charlotte Dillon, AllMusic
