One of America’s premier R&B vocalists and songwriters, Lloyd Price was known as “Mr. Personality,” named after one of his biggest million selling hits. His first recording, “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” became a hit on Specialty records in 1952, and later he reinvented the classic New Orleans beat into a string of pop hits throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. Presented here is Lloyd’s classic 1972 album, “To The Roots And Back,” which contains reworks of some of his biggest hits including “Personality,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” and “Stagger Lee.” All selections have been newly remastered.
