Selwyn Cooper is a master of the Louisiana swamp blues guitar. He played guitar for Clifton Chenier until 1987, then he rejoined Buckwheat Zydeco, playing concerts across the USA and Europe. Selwyn later hooked up with Rockin' Dopsie, sharing the picking duties with another guitar legend, Paul "Lil Buck" Senagal. He has played alongside Big Mama Thornton, Beau Jacque, and Rockin' Dopsie, and is a Wednesday night regular at Teddy's Juke Joint in Zachary, Louisiana.
Dwalyn Jackson, trumpeter and producer, was introduced to Selwyn Cooper through one of his good friends, Arnold Green. Upon introduction, Selwyn invited Dwalyn to hear him at a jam session in St. Martinville, Louisiana. His initial impression was that Selwyn was one of the most proficient guitarists he had heard in a while, and eventually Dwalyn indicated to Mr. Green that he would love to work with Selwyn on a project.
Fortunately Dwalyn's dream came true when Selwyn Cooper planned a new cd and asked Dwalyn to work on his project. His first question to Mr. Cooper was what type of project he wanted to produce. Selwyn's response was a combination of blues and jazz. That is when the fun began.
