Parnes discovered 17-year-old Ray Howard at a talent show in 1959. He signed him and renamed him Duffy Power. Power had moderate success with cover versions of well-known songs such as Dream Lover and Ain't She Sweet. However, it is said that his show was impressive. Power befriended two colleagues from the Parnes stable, Billy Fury and Dickie Pride, who sometimes lived together. In 1961, Power left Parnes after a dispute. Success stagnated, Power even attempted a suicide attempt with gas. In a club, Power heard the music to which he would devote himself in the future: the blues. He joined Graham Bond with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin. In 1963 they had a hit with the Beatles song I Saw Her Standing There. Solo Power was successful with Tired, Broke and Busted. He also recorded with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated. 1968 was another low in his career. Power had to do with psychological problems. It went up and down during the 1970s and 1980s. Power wrote songs and film scores and was involved in Alexis Korner's The Party Album (1978). In 1992 the album Blues Power was released, an overview of Duffy Power's career spanning more than 30 years.
