Nanette just plain sings good blues. She uses good material & has a great delivery. I probably really like her previous Roots & Blues better, but this is just a darned good blues album. I guess I'd like to hear her do more on the jazz side & more of her French (Montreal) blues, but one way or the other , it's a joy to listen to. She doesn't try to affect a down & dirty blues image (thank god for a little honesty, but is just a great performer who has a way of putting her own very personal mark on everything she does. I had the chance to see her do a kind of glitzy TV special type of thing at the casino in Montreal back in June & was frankly glad that she didn't put on a blues singer show. This woman has a lot of talent & works with great musicians.
