Nisse Hellberg attended Östra Grevie folk high school, and is, together with Jalle Lorensson, the only member of Wilmer X who has been involved since the start. Hellberg also made, together with Clas Rosenberg, the comic Herman Frid, which was published in Svenska Serier in 1981.
Hellberg released the studio album Röster från Södern together with Peps Persson in 1994, and in 1995 Hellberg recorded the album The Lonely Boys together with Per Gessle, which was first released as a soundtrack to Mats Olsson's book "The Lonely Boys", which was about a Swedish pop band in the 1960s.
Hellberg began his solo career with the album Xtrem, which was released in 2001. The album contained blues where Hellberg played all instruments, except for the drums played by Stefan "Stoffe" Sundlöf. Wilmer X took a longer break, and Hellberg's solo album Snackbar blues from 2006 was on the Swedish album chart for six months, got a gold record, and the song "Tufft jobb" ended up on Svensktoppen. The album was produced by Chips Kiesbye, who would continue the collaboration with Hellberg on several upcoming albums.
