American blues band Misty Blues have released their new studio album, Still Ticking. The release marks the band’s 27th anniversary and becomes the eighteenth album in an impressive discography. Since forming in 1999, Misty Blues have carved out their own place in the contemporary blues scene. Their music blends traditional blues with influences from rock, jazz, roots and funk while maintaining a distinctive musical identity. Still Ticking continues that tradition with eleven brand-new original songs.
Frontwoman Gina Coleman once again takes the lead on vocals and guitar, joined by guitarist Seth Fleischmann, drummer Rob Tatten, saxophonist Aaron Dean, multi-instrumentalist Diego Mongue, and keyboardist David Vittone. The album also features several guest vocalists. Lady Bianca appears on Trifling Man, while Chantell McCulloch, Candice Ivory, Carly Harvey, Alexis P. Suter, and Kat Riggins all contribute to the closing track, Battle Cry. The album was produced by Gina Coleman and Diego Mongue. Recording sessions took place at Playing Field Studio in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Mixing duties were handled by Diego Mongue (tracks 1–10) and Seth von Paulus (track 11), with Seth von Paulus also mastering the album.
Musically, Still Ticking moves comfortably between traditional blues and contemporary influences. Songs such as State Of The Union, I Don’t Wanna Be, Roll Right In, and Battle Cry showcase the band’s ability to combine classic blues foundations with elements of rock, soul, jazz and funk while remaining true to their own sound. With Still Ticking, Misty Blues add another diverse and accomplished chapter to a career that now spans nearly three decades. /Bluestown Music
