For twenty years The American Folk Blues Festival was a legendary tour that undertook to spread authentic blues throughout Europe.
In October 1962 the tour reached the Olympia in Paris, where the audience could hear the first French concerts by John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. The concert sold out. It announced the Folk & Blues Revival wave that went on to sweep Europe & especially Britain in the mid-Sixties.
The Live in Paris collection by Michel Brillié allows listeners to hear previously-unreleased recordings (made at concerts and private- or radio-sessions) by the great 20th stars in jazz, rock & roll and song.
These “live” takes, and the artists’ rapport with their audiences, gives these performances an additional soul and sensibility in counterpoint to the rigorous demands of studio recordings.
Particular care was taken when restoring the sound of these tapes in order to meet CD standards while preserving the original colours of the period.

GREAT !! Finally more AFBF from 1962, the first tour; made possible by German promotors Lippmann & Rau, but without Willie Dixon lots of those famous musicians might not be in Europe in the 1960s

Many thanks for posting this one. I've heard bit & pieces from this before but not the full 2 CD set we have here. So I'm astonished there were actually people booing T.Bone. Truly amazing. I guess it was much the same situation when Bob Dylan first began playing electric guitar and was booed for it. I've also read that Muddy was booed and received bad reviews when he first toured the UK with his Chicago blues band and their amplified instruments.
Thanks for posting . I believe it's the same as i requested earlier in the Basement , the cover is different and here it's a double CD with most of the songs that are on the 3 CD box that came out a few months ago .
