Sam Rocket & His Blues Prisoners - one of the most exciting and swinging bands during the vibrant west coast/jump blues era that hit the Scandinavian blues scene during the 90's. Per Näsman, aka Sam Rocket, started it all back in 1994 together with his younger brother Lars Näsman (now a renowned double bass player in the blues band Trickbag) and they hit the ground running with their hard-hitting rhythm 'n' blues.
Dressed to kill with suits and ties from the 50's and with haircuts smelling pomade they quickly stirred up a reputation and after winning the prestigious Scandinavian Blues Contest in 1998 they released ther first album "Launched" on Swedish label Last Buzz Records in 1999. It was followed up by the critically acclaimed 2001 release "Black And White".
Now, after a period of silence and numerous changes in the lineup, the band comes shooting out of the blocks again with their long overdue third album. The album title and self-penned opening track "Caught In The Groove" sets the mood and screams only one thing: We're back!
Frontman Sam Rocket is a first class crooner in the style of his heroes Roy Brown, Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Liggins and Wynonie Harris and the whole album is a roller coaster full of what Sam and the boys do best - good old rhythm 'n' blues. Produced by baby brother Lars Näsman and engineered by Finnish guitar ace Tomi Leino in his Suprovox Studios this is the real deal right here. Enjoy cats n' kittens!
