Under this name, three professional musicians got together in autumn 1991 to play their favorite music: rousing boogie-woogie, cool jump'n jive and swinging jazz & blues. Countless appearances by Papa's Finest Boogie-Band have since shown that their musical mixture of brand new original compositions and beloved classics makes every audience immediately enthusiastic about the dance floor.
From the beginning the band has consistently followed its own path: The fusion of the virtuoso-authentic boogie-woogie of Meade "Lux" Lewis and Clarence "Pinetop" Smith with the rousing, groovy and danceable music of artists such as Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Louis Prima or Fats Domino, enriched with a number of titles from their own pen, which combine modern influences with the fascination of the classics.
The continued success shows that this musical concept works perfectly: At every performance the band leaves behind enthusiastic listeners and sweaty boogie dancers - meanwhile their dedicated fan base travels to all guest performances - as well as the current CD "Papa's Finest Boogie-Band - Live" impresses critics and audiences alike.
Personnel: Volker Picard (double bass, vocals); Frank Spannaus (piano, vocals); Holger "Schlomo" Schütz (drums); Matthias Rüdiger (tenor saxophone).
