While recording mostly blues projects in the past, Danny branches out and tries his hand at heavy contemporary rock. The results are both exciting and thought provoking. With songs like "La La Land" that starts with a beautiful piano and vocal and ends with an "end of the world" guitar vrs drums scenario and "As You Slumber" with it's "In Your Face" candor and lyric, Johnson has managed to do something new and original with this genre. "La La Land" is Johnson's most progressive and edgy release to date. While his blues releases borrowed from music's past, "La La Land" borrows from its "yet unheard" future. Is this the direction of metal's future? Maybe. But it's definitely Johnson's "new direction," and we LOVE it! Looking forward to the next release...
