A blues formation about Richard Koster (stage name Billy the Kid) and Hans van Lier. In addition to covers from the Red Devils, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughan, James Harman and others, the repertoire also includes songs by Van Lier and Koster.
Together with Gerrit Veen, Bennie Timmer and Gerrit Kalkman, the group records a live CD on 17 January 1999 in café Boven Jan in Groningen. In June 1999 Van Lier and Koster perform in Minnesota in the United States, assisted by the seven-person GB Leighton from this city.
Billy & the Blues Demons wins the first prize in a blues competition in Hoogeveen.
