Ray Collins' Hot-Club is without doubt one of Europe's hottest 50's jump-blues bands ever. And after experiencing them, you can say with certainty that they are one of the best in the world. As near a perfect 50's sound as you can get. It's all about swing and rhythm and blues of the highest quality, good-time music with a strong beat. It's rare that a band of today's lineage is able to generate such an original sound and also manage to capture the spirit of the classic old legends from the 1950s such as Tiny Bradshaw, Joe Houston, Big Jay McNeely, Joe Liggins, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Wynonie Harris and Ike Turner & The Kings of Rhythm.
Shaking That Boogie remains the only RCHC album that was recorded in one place on one weekend. Some bandmembers still consider it the best RCHC album ever. Many songs remain in the Hot-Club's setlist on every single show. Years later the band performed Shaking That Boogie in the movie Barfuss, and Rock Me Baby was used in the movie Good Old Fashioned Orgy. But even well trained ears will propably not hear that second one.
