Notes: One of the best-kept secrets of the Chicago blues scene in the 1950s and 1960s, guitarist Eddie Taylor helped anchor classic recordings by the likes of Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, and Jimmy Reed, among others, occasionally taking his own turn in front of the microphone. This set collects his 1955 to 1964 solo recordings for Vee Jay Records, including his signature tune, "Bad Boy," and throws in tracks that feature Taylor backing James, Hooker, Reed, and Floyd Jones as a bonus. Taylor issued his own albums in the ensuing two decades, but these early sides are the truly essential ones.
