This album was a long time in the making. And it's worth the wait! Recorded with a stellar band, this set mixes the greatest blues, r&b and jazz sounds from the 1950s and '60s to a rocking unit. Otis Grand loves to play. At spots he sounds like a turbo-powered Freddie King. Excellent. Imagine a mix of Federal style blues instrumentals, augmented by Hammond B-3 sounds from the Prestige label and the cool Blue Note jazz grooves. Grand sounds wild and mean. A beautiful record. Highly recommended to all lovers of great guitar playing. One of my recent favorites. OTIS GRAND - gtrs, JOHNNY HENDERSON - B-3, ANTHONY GERACI - pno/B-3, BRUCE KATZ - pno, MICHAEL 'MUDCAT' WARD - bass, NEIL GOUVIN - drums, KEVIN HAYES - drums, plus horns. Special guest vocalists: JIMMY THOMAS, 'SUGAR' RAY NORCIA, CURTIS SALGADO, etc.
